That's Not Fair!

by PamFord Davis
3/01/2022 / Devotionals

When in their teens, our daughter and son sometimes complained about things being unfair.

‘That’s not fair!’

Many of their friends wore the top brand names in fashion.

In dating and privileges parents of friends were less strict.

We set boundaries.

‘It’s not fair!’

My husband (their father) quickly responded with ‘Is life fair?’

Things don’t always turn out the way we’d like.

Tempted to complain? Remember, we've been treated far better than what we deserve.

Jesus did the unthinkable. He took our place.

“He made Him who knew no sin to be sin in our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him (2 Corinthians 5:21 NASB).”

That’s not fair; that’s mercy.

Jesus’ betrayal by Judas was not fair.

His arrest, beatings and crucifixion were not fair.

The Father gave the Son as the perfect sacrifice; He wiped our slate clean.

“Therefore if anyone is in Christ, this person is a new creation; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation, namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their wrongdoings against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation.

Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.  He made Him who knew no sin to be sin in our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. (2 Corinthians 5:17-21 NASB).”
