Troubled and Tormented Or Thrilled and Thankful?

by Tonja Taylor

The devil comes to steal, kill, and destroy--to trouble and torment-but Jesus came to give us Zoe life (John 10:10), which we can access more of by choosing to be thrilled and thrankful!

The first step, of course, is to receive the LORD Jesus Christ as one's personal Savior and LORD!

16 For God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world that He [even] gave up His only begotten (unique) Son, so that whoever believes in (trusts in, clings to, relies on) Him shall not perish (come to destruction, be lost) but have eternal (everlasting) life.   17 For God did not send the Son into the world in order to judge (to reject, to condemn, to pass sentence on) the world, but that the world might find salvation and be made safe and sound through Him.--John 3:16-17, AMPC

God's Plan was never for us to be troubled nor tormented, but thrilled and thankful; always for us to have an abundant, blessed, peaceful, happy, prosperous, free life. Jesus came to redeem and restore that which was lost in the Garden.

When we have the LORD Jesus inside of us, in our hearts, as the Spirit of God, then He helps us to start understanding how to read and understand His Word, and live it. As we "drink" the Living Water of the Word, He is faithful to expose and wash out the mud of our past, wrong thinking and speaking, and all that is not of Him.

It is a process, but so worth it!

The LORD will never stop leading us to go deeper with Him, to be transformed into more of His likeness!  The more we are like Him, the more thrilled and thankful and blessed we are!

So, this is the core of these verses--to choose to be made clean by the washing of the water of the Word

12 I appeal to you therefore, brethren, and beg of you in view of [all] the mercies of God, to make a decisive dedication of your bodies [presenting all your members and faculties] as a living sacrifice, holy (devoted, consecrated) and well pleasing to God, which is your reasonable (rational, intelligent) service and spiritual worship.

2 Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you].--Romans 12:1-2, AMPC

The closer we are to Him, by reading and meditating on His Word; praying to Hiim; worshiping Him; consistently attending a Bible-believing church; and repenting as He leads, the more He reveals to us things in our lives (Sometimes, it's people; wrong relationships), the more He can expose to us what is wrong, what's been holding us back and giving the enemy place to torment and trouble us.

Then He helps us fix it, and to choose to be thrilled and thankful that (1)God is helping us conquer these wrong things; and (2) that He's giving us the strength and grace to forsake the wrong things and never return (which is what true repentance is!).

Hallelujah, God is for us, and none can be against us!

What then shall we say to [all] this? If God is for us, who [can be] against us? [Who can be our foe, if God is on our side?]--Romans 8:31, AMPC

God chooses to help us, and He also helps us choose to be thrilled and thankful--even in the midst of dark circumstances; to keep "dancin' in the rain" while the sun is starting to come out, and the skies suddenly display a glorious rainbow.

God is helping you right now, so go forth and conquer, righteous one! Be thrilled and thankful!

1 Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all you lands!   2 Serve the Lord with gladness! Come before His presence with singing!   3 Know (perceive, recognize, and understand with approval) that the Lord is God! It is He Who has made us, not we ourselves [and we are His]! We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.   4 Enter into His gates with thanksgiving and a thank offering and into His courts with praise! Be thankful and say so to Him, bless and affectionately praise His name! 5 For the Lord is good; His mercy and loving-kindness are everlasting, His faithfulness and truth endure to all generations.--Psalm 100:1-5, AMPC
