To Whom Is Your Complaint?

by Olawale Ogunsola
9/09/2022 / Christian Living

The journey of life is full of ugly ups and downs. As it happens to those who do not know the Lord, so it happens to those who serve their Lord faithfully.

Should this be so, you may wonder?

Do not forget that both set of people are living in this same evil world and its system of operations.

However, the experience and final outcome are not the same. For those who know the Lord and serve Him, they have a journey mate in Jesus Christ and His Holy Spirit in Believers. This makes the journey, experience and final outcome to be interesting and result oriented.

Glory be to God in the highest! Hallelujah!!.

DO YOU HAVE A COMPLAINT?
Beloved of Christ, do you have a Complaint in any area of your life? Be assured that you are not the only person having complaints similar or different from yours. The vital question is, How do you handle your Complaint?

TO YOURSELF.
Beloved, do you leave your Complaint to yourself? Do you know that harbouring your Complaint in your mortal body is detrimental to your health and life? Not only this, it will have direct negative effect on your emotions. This will surely have an unbearable influence on your conduct. Job's declaration in his journey of life is self-explanatory. He lamented,
"My soul is weary of my life, I will leave my complaint upon myself, I will speak in bitterness of my soul." Job10:1. KJV.

Leaving your complaint upon yourself will breed bitterness. Avoid this!

TO MAN
This is not only advisable but equally dangerous. As we often do, our complaints to man brings us unto ridicule. So many times, you complain to those around you who do not understand your pass through but even lack the power to solve your problems.
Many times, you have exposed yourself to those who will make you a laughing stock. So was it with Job and any of mankind. He lamented, "Hear diligently my speech, and let this be your consolations.
Suffer me that I may speak, and after that I have spoken, mock on." Job 21:2-3.
Like any mortal man, why should Job present his complaint to mockers he knew? He gave an apt description of his"best friends" who had the guts to visit him in his state of despondency as, "forgers of lies, physicians of no value and miserable comforterd"; Job 13:4;161.

Are these not mankind can offer you if your Complaints are to them?

TO GOD?
Do you know what? God hates the Complaint of His people. Why? There are two types of Complaints:
Complaints for self justification and condemnation of God. This was Job's kind of Complaints. This is the type of Complaints common to us all. We don't see anything good in what God has or is done or doing. When he encountered God, he kept quiet, Job 40:1-7.
The Psamist understand this very well that is why he declares in Psalm 143:2 thus, "And enter not into judgments with thy servant: for in thy sight shall no man living be justified."

A Better Complaints.
Do you ask "Who then can you turn to? The answer is simple. Turn to God. Turn to Him for the sole purpose SOLVING THE PROBLEM causing the Complaints. The word of the Lord in Isaiah 1:18 says a lot,
"Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord:; though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as now; though they be like crimson, they shall be as wool."

When you approach the Lord with the aim of ironing out the issue you are complaining about, you are on the right pedestal to be set free.
When you approach the Lord for solution, and not an exercise in futility, unreasonable Complaints, be sure that an an end will come over your Complaints.

AN EXAMPLE
Like anyone, Hannah, the wife of Elkanah in 2 Samuel chapter one had her own portion of bitterness of heart and Complaints. To get out of this, she went to her Maker for a permanent solution. What did he do? In her words, "I am a woman of a sorrowful spirit. I have drunk neither wine nor strong drink, but have poured out my soul before the Lord.
Count not thine handmaid for a daughter of Belial: for out of the abundance of my complaint and grief have I spoken hitherto." verses 15-16.
After this, her heart desire was met by the Personality who could handle it. Joy filled her heart.
Therefore, my beloved reader, it is now time to redirect your Complaints to the appropriate quarter and Person who has all that it takes to see you through.
Stay blessed and prepared for the imminent coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.
