Blessings in Disguise

‘Hello, how are you?’

My husband Norm greets almost everyone that he passes. Most readily reply.

Aging brings afflictions. How are you?

God knows; He cares.

“For the Lord has comforted His people,
and will have compassion on His afflicted ones (Isaiah 49:13b HCSB).”

Afflictions just might be blessings in disguise. Unmask them.

“Lord, the earth is filled with Your faithful love;
teach me Your statutes.

Lord, You have treated Your servant well,
just as You promised.
Teach me good judgment and discernment,
for I rely on Your commands.
Before I was afflicted I went astray,
but now I keep Your word.
You are good, and You do what is good;
teach me Your statutes (Psalm 119:64-68 HCSB).”

We can find strength and restoration in God’s grace.

“But He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.’ Therefore, I will most gladly boast all the more about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may reside in me.  So I take pleasure in weaknesses, insults, catastrophes, persecutions, and in pressures, because of Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong (2 Corinthians 12:9-10 HCSB).”
