Weighing on Your Mind
by PamFord Davis
2/08/2023 / Devotionals
You say you’ve got a bad case of the jitters?
I feel your pain.
Are you sure you haven’t had too much caffeine?
Hmm; and you say that you’ve had plenty of rest.
Maybe you have something weighing on your mind.
You say you’ve got a bad case of the jitters?
I feel your pain.
Are you sure you haven’t had too much caffeine?
Hmm; and you say that you’ve had plenty of rest.
Maybe you have something weighing on your mind.
It sounds like anxiety.
Apostle Paul shared good advice; there’s a remedy for anxiety.
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and pleading with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:6-7 NASB).”
Peter had the same mind set.
“Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, so that He may exalt you at the proper time, having cast all your anxiety on Him, because He cares about you. Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. So resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being accomplished by your brothers and sisters who are in the world. After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen, and establish you (1 Peter 5:6-10 NASB).”
LORD, You know that I battle anxiety; I receive Your peace. In Jesus name. Amen.
