Cling to Christ!

by Tonja Taylor
2/13/2023 / Christian Living

For God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world that He [even] gave up His only begotten (unique) Son, so that whoever believes in (trusts in, clings to, relies on) Him shall not perish (come to destruction, be lost) but have eternal (everlasting) life.--John 3:16, AMPC

When the storm is on, God's there. Cling to Him, and sing His praise. Things will change, and you will overcome!

Don't just cling to Him when things are bad, though.

Make like a grape, and cling to the Vine!

I am the Vine; you are the branches. Whoever lives in Me and I in him bears much (abundant) fruit. However, apart from Me [cut off from vital union with Me] you can do nothing.--John 15:5, AMPC

But take diligent heed to do the commandment and the law which Moses the servant of the Lord charged you: to love the Lord your God and to walk in all His ways and to keep His commandments and to cling to and unite with Him and to serve Him with all your heart and soul [your very life].--Joshua 22:5, AMPC

However, if we don't cling to God, but try to do this life on our own, we are spurning the LORD. Not good; very, very bad.

The LORD does not want to judge and condemn us. That was only meant for the devil and the angels he deceived who turned renegade against God with him.

However, when we reject the LORD Jesus and what His pure Sacrifice did for us, then we are rejecting everything good--and the only thing left is the bad, the condemnation (which is what "damnation" means).

If a person does not choose to receive Christ Jesus as LORD and Savior--no matter how many good things they do, as far as what humans think is good--then they judge themselves and are headed for hell, which is total and eternal separation from God, Who is good and all good.

He who believes in Him [who clings to, trusts in, relies on Him] is not judged [he who trusts in Him never comes up for judgment; for him there is no rejection, no condemnation—he incurs no damnation]; but he who does not believe (cleave to, rely on, trust in Him) is judged already [he has already been convicted and has already received his sentence] because he has not believed in and trusted in the name of the only begotten Son of God. [He is condemned for refusing to let his trust rest in Christ’s name.]--John 3:18, AMPC

When we do cling to God, the LORD Jesus indicates that this helps bring us into unity with other Believers, and we know that is true.

When we are born again by believing in the LORD Jesus Christ and what His blood shed on the cross did to cleanse us from all our sins, then we desire to gather with like-minded Believers, and we all agree that Jesus Christ is the only Savior of mankind, and the Source of everything good.

As Jesus prays to the Father (He is our Example!) in John 17, He prays:  19 And so for their sake and  on their behalf I sanctify (dedicate, consecrate) Myself, that they also may be sanctified (dedicated, consecrated, made holy) in the Truth. 20 Neither for these alone do I pray [it is not for their sake only that I make this request], but also for all those who will ever come to believe in (trust in, cling to, rely on) Me through their word and teaching, 21 That they all may be one, [just] as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be one in Us, so that the world may believe and be convinced that You have sent Me.--John 17:19-21, AMPC

It's a no-brainer! God is good, all good. He is totally trustworthy!

God is the Reason you have breath, not to mention every other good thing in your life! No matter how much bad there is (which comes from your enemy, the devil, who hates you because God created you and loves you and sent Jesus to die for you), there is always good.

When you receive Christ Jesus, God's Son, as your Savior and LORD and Best Friend Forever (He IS the Friend Who will be with you forever; the ultimate Faithful One!), you become part of the Royal Family of the living God, and your spirit and soul will go to Heaven when your body dies. There, you will have the perfect life, the one you really want; the one your spirit already knows is possible.

The LORD loves you and wants to save you from a terrible life right now! He makes it easy. All you have to do is believe in your heart these truths. Even if you feel like you're not believing, the Holy Spirit, Who is God, will help you! You can tell the LORD you want to believe. You will be using the power of your free will--which the LORD chose to give every person, instead of making them get saved, which He could have!--to choose Christ Jesus, the only true Savior of the world! You will be using your free will--Your God-ordained power--to choose real, abundant life (John 10:10), which Jesus died the most horrible death for you to have!

Say this out loud to receive the LORD Jesus Christ as your Savior and LORD and Friend: Dear Jesus, I choose to believe that You are the only Savior of the world. Thank You for shedding Your pure blood on the cross for me, after coming to earth as a human baby, living as the rest of us do, but with no sin, and then giving Yourself for me, so I could be free!  I choose to believe and receive You into my heart. Please take my life and do something with it. Thank You, LORD! In Your Name, amen!

Now, if you said that prayer and meant it (and the LORD Who knows all things knows that you have used your power of choice to choose Him; to choose life!), then you are born again in your spirit! You have become a child of the living God, the LORD of Heaven and earth, Who created you and gives you every breath and every good thing! You are now part of the Royal Family, and the Holy Spirit has marked you for the LORD and for great things!

Ask the LORD to lead you to a Bible-believing church, to help you read the Word of God daily, and to listen to and sing Bible-based praise and worship music, as well as to find others who truly believe and follow God (None of us are perfect, but we are to choose daily to allow Him to perfect us; to make us more like Christ! He will!).

He will help you. He is for you, and now that you have chosen to accept Him, He is in you! Cling to Him daily, all day long, through the good, the bad, the ugly, and the in-between. You will learn to hear His voice and know His ways, and life will just get better and better.

The enemy will try to deceive and trouble you, but the closer you get to God, the more you will know how to tell the difference, and have a victorious and pleasant and more exciting life!

Congratulations for making the very best decision of your entire life!
