JESUS SAID: "I AM THE WAY......."

by linzy bruno
2/21/2023 / Bible Studies

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” (John 14:6)

Through this verse Jesus is laying out God’s Plan of salvation for those who believe on His Only Begotten Son. Christians no longer have to come to God through cold ritualistic, dead offerings in order to repent and receive forgiveness leading to reconciliation. God has made, for His New Covenant people, a simple and perfect sacrifice through His Only Begotten Son, sent from His Place in Heaven to be the propitiation for our sins. Therefore, we can repent because God made us a way---Jesus; The Only Way.

Nevertheless, there are those that labor under the misconception that because of our faith in Christ, believers no longer have a need for repentance. They argue that because of what Jesus did for us, we are no longer required to come to God when we sin. See Matthew 3:8 and Proverbs 28:13 below.

But Jesus didn’t come so that we wouldn’t have a need for repentance; He came so that we could repent without animal sacrifice…..He made a WAY---HIS BLOOD.

He didn’t come to negate all need for repentance; He made a way (being He IS The Way) unto repentance, so that we can go to God directly. Because The Blood of Jesus was the PERFECT sacrifice, and hence God was Satisfied.

in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth,” (2Timothy 2:25)

When they heard these things they became silent; and they glorified God, saying, “Then God has also granted to the Gentiles repentance to life.” (Acts 11:18)

For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death.” (2Corinthians 7:10)

Therefore bear fruits worthy of repentance,” (Matthew 3:8)

He who covers his sins will not prosper,
But whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy.”
(Proverbs 28:13)

David; extremely grieved, repents of his sins with Bathsheba in all of Psalm 51

The Biblical Definition of Propitiation is:

One aspect of the work of Christ is satisfaction of the necessary judgment on sin. When Jesus died on the cross, he satisfied the justice and holiness of God. Since the law is an extension of the nature of God, Christ had to satisfy the demands of the law in his death.
