Lie or Life?

by Tonja Taylor
3/05/2023 / Christian Living

Teach me good judgment, wise and right discernment, and knowledge, for I have believed (trusted, relied on, and clung to) Your commandments.--Psalm 119:66, AMPC

There are so many voices in this world!

Beloved, do not put faith in every spirit, but prove (test) the spirits to discover whether they proceed from God; for many false prophets have gone forth into the world.--I John 4:1, AMPC

Many of them claim to be the Truth of Christ, but there is only one Truth, for there is only one Christ; only one Way--the LORD Jesus, Who is the Living Word!

His Word is the Light of Life!

So, we can believe that we are really living the Life He died to give us--the abudand, ZOE life--but we can be deceived; we can be living a lie.

This is the main reason why we need to be in the Word of God every day--reading it, listening to true Bible-based preaching (and even then, we need discernment, for not all preaching and teaching that calls itself "Bible-based" really is!

Like the cattle that go down into the valley [to find better pasturage, refuge, and rest], the Spirit of the Lord caused them to rest. So did You lead Your people [Lord] to make for Yourself a beautiful and  glorious name [to prepare the way for the acknowledgment of Your name by all nations].--Isaiah 63:14, AMPC

So, we must ask ourselves--Am I living a lie, or living The Life Jesus died a horrible death to give me?

Hear, my sons, the instruction of a father, and pay attention in order to gain and to know intelligent discernment, comprehension, and   interpretation [of spiritual matters].--Proverbs 4:1, AMPC

The LORD will help us learn how to get with Him, and get quiet, and hear from Him. He's so gracious, that He will repeat Himself, and keep nudging us the right way.

He is a good, good Father!

For this reason we also, from the day we heard of it, have not ceased to pray and make [special] request for you, [asking] that you may be filled with the full (deep and clear) knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom [in comprehensive insight into the ways and purposes of God] and in understanding and discernment of spiritual things—Colossians 1:9, AMPC

We can ask for wisdom (James 1:5), and know that it is always His will for us to have it. Christ within us is our Wisdom, so we can say, "LORD, I yield to Christ within me, for He is my wisdom."

This is a way of humbling ourselves, and the LORD responds, as every good Father does, to our respectful and trusting humility. (In fact, trusting God instead of our own way is humility--and God gives grace to the humble!)

8 Good and upright is the Lord; therefore will He instruct sinners in [His] way. 9 He leads the humble in what is right, and the humble He teaches His way. 10 All the paths of the Lord are mercy and steadfast love, even truth and faithfulness are they for those who keep His covenant and His testimonies.--Psalm 25:8-10, AMPC

The LORD is SO good!

He is so faithful, and, as Psalm 25 states, He instructs even sinners (unsaved; not born again people) in His way! (Any time someone, even those not born again, shows pure love toward others--with no ulterior motives--it is authored by God Who is Love (I John 4:8), in my opinion.). How much more does He, our Good Shepherd, lead us His kids in the right way!

He knows our hearts are to please Him, to do His will; to help others see and know Him! He helps us in wonderful ways--sweet, faithful, loving, all-wise Daddy God that He is! Hallelujah!

He wants to not only get us out of wrong situations (Even good things can not be God's best for us! He is teaching more about that, and helping me make changes that may not make sense to my mind, but that my heart, my spirit, knows is His direction!), but to keep us from going the wrong way to start with.

When we truly want to know God's will, He will help us. We must be willing to change, to adapt, to flex and flow with the Spirit of God, to ascertain and receive and enjoy His best for us. (I'm preaching to myself!) He will help us!

12 Who is the man who reverently fears and worships the Lord? Him shall He teach in the way that he should choose. 13 He himself shall dwell at ease, and his offspring shall inherit the land. 14 The secret [of the sweet, satisfying companionship] of the Lord have they who fear (revere and worship) Him, and He will show them His covenant and reveal to them its [deep, inner] meaning. 15 My eyes are ever toward the Lord, for He will pluck my feet out of the net.--Psalm 25:12-15, AMPC

The LORD is so good to keep and help, guide and provide for us, direct and protect us. He loves us!

When we learn His Word and hide it in our hearts, the wonderful Counselor, the sweet Holy Spirit Who is God, can bring the Word up in our hearts and encourage, strengthen, correct, guide, warn, and otherwise teach us--including to help us to rejoice that He loves us so much He lives in us (once we have received God's Son, King Jesus Christ, as our Savior and LORD, of course, to live in our hearts by His Spirit, as we believe in Him!).  He is with us always, to help us in every way.

Hallelujah! What an awesome God--the awesome God--we serve!

9 For this reason we also, from the day we heard of it, have not ceased to pray and make [special] request for you, [asking] that you may be filled with the full (deep and clear) knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom [in comprehensive insight into the ways and purposes of God] and in understanding and discernment of spiritual things— 10 That you may walk (live and conduct yourselves) in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to Him and desiring to please Him in all things, bearing fruit in every good work and steadily growing and increasing in and by the knowledge of God [with fuller, deeper, and clearer insight, acquaintance, and recognition].--Colossians 1:9-10, AMPC
