The High Life!

by Tonja Taylor
3/13/2023 / Christian Living

I will give to the Lord the thanks due to His rightness and justice, and I will sing praise to the name of the Lord Most High.---Psalm 7:17, AMPC

24 But My servant Caleb, because he has a different spirit and has followed Me fully, I will bring into the land into which he went, and his descendants shall possess it.--Numbers 14:24, AMPC

A couple years ago, I discovered a delightful Christian retreat center in my state. The prices were very economical, and we stayed in a delightful secluded cabin. It seemed just right, and we stayed there a few times.

Then, the LORD revealed to me that there was much more available on that lovely, 1,000 acres set aside for "holy listening"--and He gave me a higher thought: Why not rent an entire house? Just because it was just two of us, didn't mean we couldn't rent the entire four-bedroom house with an astounding, floor-to-ceiling view of the mountaintops; to be eye-level with the soaring hawks!

I was thrilled to find that, by taking my own bedding, the price to rent the entire amazing house for four days was the same price that I'd paid for just a couple nights in the much smaller cabin!

God is the Most High, and His thoughts are truly higher than ours:

8 For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, says the Lord. 9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts.--Isaiah 55:8-9, AMPC

However, when we seek and submit to Him; when we study and meditate His Word, and ask Him to help us live it, He is so gracious, and will cause our thoughts to become aligned with Him. Hallelujah!

He helps us think higher; dream bigger; expand our thinking!

We were not made for limits, although, since the fall, humans have had to have boundaries and rules--for our own good and protection!

I have seen that everything [human] has its limits and end [no matter how extensive, noble, and excellent]; but Your commandment is exceedingly broad and extends without limits [into eternity].--Psalm 119:96, AMPC

Anyway, as I look back over my 55-plus years of life, I am thankful for the many opportunities my parents gave me to learn and develop skills in leadership and creativity.  Most of this, at least, was inspired by the LORD, for neither of my parents had much of these type of chances.   Through the years, the LORD has inspired me (with higher thinking!) through His Word and prayer and worship and Bible-based church attendance to think bigger. He has supernaturally coordinated my Path, as I've learned to ask Him to (and even before then, of course, for He directs our Paths, even when we're not aware of it. He is the ultimate good, faithful Father!).

The steps of a [good] man are directed and established by the Lord when He delights in his way [and He busies Himself with his every step].--Psalm 37:23

Hallelujah!

Although some experiences may have been challenging and even hard when I allowed the LORD to inspire me to a higher thought--a higher level of living (which He will always do, as long as we live--and, I hear, even in Heaven! There is always more to experience in  and with The Limitless One!)--I have never regretted it!

As I've thought of--and often marvelled at--how amazing, what an honor it is to be part of what The Most High God is doing in His earth in these Last Days!

Let us allow the Most High God, our Father (once we have asked Him to forgive us of our sins and come into our lives and be our Savior and LORD, that is! John 3:14-17, Romans 5:6-9) to have His perfect way in our lives.

His Plans are good for us, and all good, for He is good, and all good, forever!

For I know the thoughts and plans that I have for you, says the Lord, thoughts and plans for welfare and peace and not for evil, to give you hope in your final outcome.--Jeremiah 29:11, AMPC

Let us submit our souls (minds, wills, emotions) to Him Who is perfect Love, and allow Him (Phenomenally, we have to choose to allow Him, for He has given us a free will. He never forces us to do anything!) to think His higher thoughts through us, and to help us not be conformed to this world, but transformed by His higher level of thinking (Colossians 1:9). Hallelujah!

Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you].--Romans 12:2, AMPC

Getting back to thinking higher than the cabin, and stepping up to the house; not only was the view from the cabin very limited (a pond and pretty trees), with loud AC/heat, but the cottage (a four-bedroom house, with a big screened-in porch and a spacious and gracious living area, with amazing light and beauty!), was much more comfortable, and the view much more beautiful and far-reaching! I could see for miles, where the view from the cabin was just a few yards.

The LORD will always help us think higher, if we just allow Him to. He will also help us have wisdom, and not get into foolishness. However, I believe our awesome, faithful, all-powerful, all-knowing Father, Who created and sustains the universe and all life, would rather us be "rediculous" in our thinking than limited!

After all, as I tell my many students often, everything we see (including us!) was created; a product of higher thinking! Someone had the idea (invention), and then often, someone else modified or otherwise improved that invention (innovation), to serve themselves and/or others even better.

God is The Most High God, the Creator, and, if you know Jesus Christ as your LORD and Savior, then you have His Wisdom to create and innovate--to think higher! He is the Master problem-Solver, and the Creator of everything helpful and good (The enemy cannot create; only pervert for evil what the LORD God, Jesus Christ, means for good.). So, yield to His creative Spirit; to His problem-solving ability; to His wisdom (and I'm talking to myself as well!), and He will help you, and do even more--higher--than you know right now!

Hallelujah!

20 Now to Him Who, by (in consequence of) the [action of His] power that is at work within us, is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly, far over and above all that we [dare] ask or think [infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, hopes, or dreams]— 21 To Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations forever and ever. Amen (so be it).--Ephesians 3:20-21, AMPC

If you have not known this glorious, victorious, living LORD, Jesus the Christ (the Anointed, Empowered One!) as your Savior and LORD, just say this prayer out loud: Dear Jesus, I choose to believe that You are the only Way to Heaven, and that You are holy. I need You to please forgive me of all my sins, and cleanse me with the blood You shed on the cross of Calvary over 2,000 years ago. Please come into my heart as the Holy Spirit, and be my Savior and LORD. Thank You! I renounce all agreements I've had with darkness, and I receive your glorious, saving Light! In Your Name, amen!

13 For everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord [invoking Him as Lord] will be saved.--Romans 10:13, AMPC

He hears and answers the cry of every sincere heart! Hallelujah!

Now, if you have received the LORD Jesus, you will truly start thinking higher, for the Most HIgh God will now live in you, and help you in every part of life as you ask Him (He is a Gentleman, and even when He comes to live in our hearts, He will never force His way on us! His gentle, loving Spirit inspires us to ask Him for our help. He is soooooo good, and loves us all so much!)

12 Therefore, my dear ones, as you have always obeyed [my suggestions], so now, not only [with the enthusiasm you would show] in my presence but much more because I am absent, work out (cultivate, carry out to the goal, and fully complete) your own salvation with reverence and awe and trembling (self-distrust, with serious caution, tenderness of conscience, watchfulness against temptation, timidly shrinking from whatever might offend God and discredit the name of Christ). 13 [Not in your own strength] for it is God Who is all the while effectually at work in you [energizing and creating in you the power and desire], both to will and to work for His good pleasure and  satisfaction and delight. --Philippians 2:12-13, AMPC

Congratulations on making the best decision (whether just now, or before!) you've ever made--to live the true "High Life" found only in Jesus Christ!

Let us all yield to the higher thinking of the Most High, Who knows all things, for all time, and works them all together for our best and His glory, as only He can do (Genesis 50:20, Romans 8:28)!
