Have You Dedicated Your Baby to the LORD? (excerpt from THE NEW LEGACY)

by Tonja Taylor
4/03/2023 / Christian Living

I had a disturbing night vision right before my husband awakened me. There were two pre-teen girls whom another couple raising them wanted me to keep for a few days, at their home, while they went on vacation. I didn't know the couple closely, but was considering the task. The couple left for an errand, soon to return, and while they were gone, the girls came up to me and were going to try to hurt me. These were just slim, young girls, like maybe 10 or 11 or so.

I knew they were oppressed (controlled by flesh and demonically-led thoughts), and also that they could not hurt me. I called my husband and he came, and we both started physically restraining them, and even picked up one girl and physically carried her out the door and left her there.  We knew the devil was controlling these girls.

I didn't seem to speak the Word, in this night vision, but I knew my authority in Christ, and that the girls couldn't hurt me.

The scene changed, and the couple returned. I told them of the girls' very wrong behavior.  They didn't seem too concerned. Instead, the wife went into the house, while the husband/father figure (I'm not sure these girls were the couple's daughters. I felt they were not.) constructed some crazy roller-coaster ride, on top of the house and other buildings, and strapped some kind of safety barrier around the outside of the thing, then let "the girls" ride around and around a few times in it.

I had watched from some ways away, while being outside. Then, immediately, the LORD gave me an "omniscient" revelation; like I was standing in the room with the "girls" and the father figure, listening to and watching them, without them knowing I was there. The "girls" were now two lovely women--witches, from their own mouths--talking with the man, about how they'd been beat up and bummed out, and were recovering. They kind of laughed scornfully about it.

Then I woke up.  I asked the LORD for interpretation, and I believe He showed me that many of our young people have been oppressed and depressed by witchcraft, which can take many forms.  I also felt He was impressing me that many children have been purposely dedicated to the devil.

In addition, I believe He was showing me that we true Believers in Christ must purposely dedicate our children to the LORD Jesus Christ, the Holy One, the Creator and Sustainer of every good thing; the Author of Life, Who is Love (I John 4:8)!

15 And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell; but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.--Joshua 24:15, AMPC

You Choose!

You must choose to live for the LORD, and to dedicate and raise your child(ren) to the LORD our God, the soon-coming, glorious, victorious one true King, the LORD Jesus Christ!

It doesn't just happen!

It ia a personal responsibility; a personal choice; an empowerment granted by God to understand and execute positive influence over one's child(ren).

"Good" kids--especially those that really love the LORD--don't just grow up that way. Kids have parents and teachers, pastors, and other leaders, because they need them to guide them in the ways of God!

No Christian parent is perfect, including me, but I'm so thankful the LORD taught me early to dedicate my daughter to the LORD and speak the Word of God over her, to purposely shape her life for Him.

One day I was taking her early to her caretaker (my dear mom, who was the only one I'd trust to keep her that early!). I was in a rush, and had forgotten to bless my baby, as I usually did every morning before she went to daycare or school. My sweet elementary student said, "Mama! You forgot to bless me!" and she took my right hand (while I drove with the left) and put it on her wise little head. I spoke the Blessing over her (which was a flow of Scriptures the LORD had taught me to speak over her; a mix of verses from both the Old and New Testaments).

Hallelujah!

The LORD is so good to reveal to you how your efforts are bringing good results in your kids (Proverbs 14:23).

And I raised up some of your sons for prophets and some of your young men for dedicated ones [Nazirites]. Is this not true, O you children of Israel? says the Lord.--Amos 2:11, AMPC

In the Bible, many things were dedicated--set apart as holy or special; to be exclusive--to the LORD.

As Believers in the true and only God, the LORD Jesus Christ, it is our privilege and honor (and in my opinion, duty!) to dedicate our children to the LORD!

They will each have to choose to follow His Path (Ephesians 2:10

I call heaven and earth to witness this day against you that I have set before you life and death, the blessings and the curses; therefore choose life, that you and your descendants may live--Deut. 30:19,l AMPC

Each Of Us Is To Be A Temple For The LORD To Live In

Years ago, when I was rehearsing I Chronicles 29:10-18, where King David is praising the LORD for providing generously for the building of the temple, the LORD gave me insight that "temple" does not just mean the church building, but the individual temples of people!

What agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the temple of the living God; as God said, “I will make my dwelling among them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.--2 Corinthians 6:16, ESV

Dedicating your child to the LORD is very important. It's a horrible thing that some children have literally been deliberately dedicated to the evil one, so how much more should we Royal Heirs of the Most High God dedicate the children He gives us back to Him?!

You don't want your kids to serve the enemy by default!

How to Dedicate Your Child to the LORD Jesus Christ

Also, as I learned just a couple weeks ago from my pastor, a "baby dedication" is really the dedication of the family (as well), to agree to teach the child from early on the importance of loving and living the Word of God; to know the LORD Jesus and to honor and respect and obey Him.

Dedicating your baby to the LORD is not hard, nor complex. Here is what I did to dedicate my daughter to Him, over 25 years ago; simple but powerful.

First, make the decision. Each of us has a free will, and that is an amazing empowerment from God!

Dedicating your child(ren) to the LORD is first your God-led decision to do so. (Know this: There are three sources of decisions: God, your flesh (mind, will, emotions), and the enemy. Dedicating your baby to God is certainly not from the enemy, nor is it from your flesh, although the Holy Spirit Who leads us into all truth uses our minds, wills, and emotions.)

After that, you ask the LORD to show you which Scripture(s) to speak over your child; like a theme verse for your child's life. However, as your child matures, the LORD will reveal to you the gifts of that baby that He's given, and it is your job to help your child develop and encourage them to use their gifts, talents, strengths, and other resources to the LORD, from Whom comes all good things (including every breath!). Even after your children are grown, you will benefit them and yourself by continuing to speak the eternal, unchanging, life-giving Word of God over them!

Next, create a dedication document with your child's name, the date, and the Scriptures you believe the LORD showed you to help shape the theme of his or her life. You could also put a place for the minister(s) and you and your spouse to sign, as well as any grandparents present, if you want. I had three Scriptures that I believe the LORD showed me to speak over my daughter, and to put on a dedication document for her (which also listed the date, and had a place for the pastor who performed the dedication, and us parents to sign).

Atlgough I did not have a good camera to take photos or videos then, you could take photos and/or videos for precious keepsakes, and to replay at times, to remind you (and the child(ren) of the magnitude of that holy event!

I chose to have my sweet daughter dedicated to the LORD when she was three months old, on Mother's Day. (Of course, I had truly dedicated her to Christ when she was in my womb! It's never too early to start--even before you have children, you can choose in your heart and your words to tell the LORD that they are dedicated to Him; that you will, by His help, raise them to His glory! Hallelujah!)

I suppose I'd actually done that myself, years before, for I had had it in my heart as a teenager that, if I ever got married and have kids, I'd raise them for Jesus. Amen!

One of the main ways you to continuously dedicate your children is for you to love and live the Word of God, and speak the living, life-changing Word of God over them every day!  You could start with the Scriptures the LORD showed you to have proclaimed over them at the dedication service. The LORD will show you more and more, for there is always a Scripture (usually several!) that is applicable for every situation in your child's life--including Scriptures for you personally, as the parent!

When You Speak the Word Over Your Kids, You Sanctify Them

And you shall teach them to your children, speaking of them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you rise up.--Deut. 11:19, AMPC

This is a form of blessing your children, and sanctifying them with the cleansing Word of God, while demonstrating to the them the importance of the living Word to shape their lives, even as they hear the Word going into their ears. (It is also important to continue to speak the Word of God

And Joshua said to the people, Sanctify yourselves [that is, separate yourselves for a special holy purpose], for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you.--Joshua 3:5, AMPC

To sanctify means "to consecrate," which is like "dedicate"--to set apart as special, holy, exclusive for the use of someone or something.

Just like Jesus our Savior and LORD is dedicated to a personal, unique relationship with each of us who receive Him, we can dedicate ourselves to Him, for each of us will stand before Him to answer for what we did with our lives; our time, our energy, our gifts and talents and other resources.

In the Part II, I'll share specific Scripture you can speak over your children, to start shaping their lives on purpose for the LORD.

The LORD Loves Our Kids More Than We Do, and Only Does Us Good!

With God, it's always a win-win. You'll soon start loving His Word more, and it will positively shape your life for Him too!

Hallelujah! How great and good is our awesome God!

Blessed be the LORD, for He is good; for His mercy endures forever!

Blessed be the Lord, Who has given rest to His people Israel, according to all that He promised. Not one word has failed of all His good promise which He promised through Moses His servant.--I Kings 8:56

For out of His fullness (abundance) we have all received [all had a share and we were all supplied with] one grace after another and spiritual blessing upon spiritual blessing and even favor upon favor and gift [heaped] upon gift.--John 1:16, AMPC
