Four Personalities Who Recognize The Righteous.

by Olawale Ogunsola
4/13/2023 / Christian Living

To every child of God, it is not new that the Lord our God is a Righteous One. As a result of this, a true child of God takes after his Father in all things. Therefore, if God is righteous, you have to.
I have heard it from many people who claim to be people of God saying that ONLY God knows those who are righteous. I think such people are strangers to the Scriptures.
A close examination of the Word of God reveals this truth:

1. God knows who is righteous. A Righteous God knows who among His people resembles Him. A biological father also knows a child who resembles in stature and character. So it is with God. This is what many people know and proclaim to the extent that they don't believe anyone else knows him.

What evidence do I have to establish this truth from the Holy Scriptures? God is a witness to Caleb's righteousness in Numbers 14:24. Numbers 14:24 "But my servant Caleb has a different attitude than the others have. He has remained loyal to me, so I will bring him into the land he explored. His descendants will possess their full share of that land."
If being loyal to the Lord in all things is righteousness, then, that is God's testimony about Caleb, of the people of Israel in the wilderness in Moses' time. What New Living Translation calls "remain loyal" is what King James Version refers to as "wholly follow". If this is righteousness, God is Caleb's witness.

2. The Righteous knows himself. A Righteous man knows his ways with God and before Him. He knows his walk with God. If anyone engages in self-deception, he knows the truth about himself.

A Righteous man knows himself. That is the truth. In Joshua 14:8, Caleb confidently declared to Joshua, "But my brothers who went with me frightened the people from entering the Promised Land. For my part, I wholeheartedly followed the lord my God."

Who will say that this man of God did not know his status before God? He was bold to say so. He was loyal to God. He followed Him wholeheartedly. He knew this. So is everyone righteous?

3. Other Righteous people know him. Meaning that those who are righteous know one another. It should not be a strange thing that a Righteous man knows another Righteous man. They share the same pattern of life. They easily recognize one another as children of the same Father who resembles Him.
In his declaration of his way of life, Joshua did not dispute what Caleb said.

He went to him, Joshua, as a witness of what God said about him.
Joshua was also a witness of Moses' testimony of Caleb and the promise attached to it in Joshua 14:9, "Joshua 14:8-9
"but my brothers who went with me frightened the people from entering the Promised Land. For my part, I wholeheartedly followed the lord my God. So that day Moses solemnly promised me, ‘The land of Canaan on which you were just walking will be your grant of land and that of your descendants forever because you wholeheartedly followed the lord my God."

Moses was also a witness of Caleb's righteousness. Righteous people know one another.

4. Unbelievers recognize him. Not only that, those who are not following the Lord easily recognize anyone righteous. Those who are following the Lord wholeheartedly.

Beloved reader, do you know that the name "Christians" was not the making of the Lord Jesus Christ, not an idea conceived by the Apostles? It was muted by the people who did not know nor follow Jesus Christ.

However, when those non Believers looked at the ways of those following the Lord that it was wholeheartedly that they were called "Christians". Do you want to know? This did not happen in Jerusalem or the region of Israel but in far away Antioch. Acts11:26 confirms,
"When he found him, he brought him back to Antioch. Both of them stayed there with the church for a full year, teaching large crowds of people. (It was at Antioch that the believers were first called Christians.)".

Therefore, if you live a righteous life, God knows, you know, other disciples of Christ know as well as those who are not following Christ. Delete your name from the list of mischievous Believers who will say that only God knows the righteous.
Let me not fail to state here that a Righteous man can make a mistake but he quickly corrects himself and forges ahead in his journey of faith.
Stay blessed and prepared for the coming of the Lord.
