God?s children

by Henry Miranda
4/26/2023 / Christian Living

We are all God’s children because we were born in this world, and God created this world for us. There are some that have had problems with their children who don’t want to listen and want to go their own ways. That’s the way this world is. We are all God’s children, but not all listen to God or want to know about God.

As your children are growing up, you try to correct them so they can be respectful and courteous. But as I said earlier, they are children; they have their own mindsets and won’t listen to the proper advice.

That’s the way God is to us. He tries to help us go in the right direction; God Loves Us. God Wants Us to Love Him. God Wants Us to Love Each Other.

God Wants Us to Join Him in Heaven. But we choose to go our own way. You correct your children as they are growing up, and so does God. God’s judgment works in two ways 1. He rewards those that listen to him and follow his guidance. 2. To bring judgment on those that are disobedient and don’t listen to his ways.

God will breathe life back into the dead, restoring them to earthly existence. And God will bring all the dead back to life, not just the righteous. The multitude who had been opposed to God will also be raised, but for a different reason: to see the errors of their ways and be judged.

Jesus put his own twist on the idea. Contrary to what other Jewish leaders taught, Jesus preached that no one would inherit the glorious future kingdom by stringently observing all the Jewish laws in their most intimate details; or by meticulously following the rules of worship involving sacrifice, prayer, and observance of holy days; or by pursuing one’s own purity through escaping the vile world and the tainting influence of sinful others.

Instead, for Jesus, the earthly utopia will come to those who are fully dedicated to the most pervasive and dominant teachings of God’s law. Put most simply, that involves loving God above all things despite personal hardship, and working diligently for the welfare of others, even when it is exceedingly difficult. People who have not been living lives of complete unselfish love need to repent and return to the two “greatest commandments” of Jewish Scripture: a deep love of God (Deuteronomy 6:4-6) and committed love of neighbor (Leviticus 19:18).

God’s reward is heaven; on the other hand, God’s judgment is hell. Let us take a look at both. We will start with The judgment, which is

Hell

It is a place you would not want to be. Hell is not a party place; it is "the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels" (Matt 25:41), but also for those who join them in their rebellion against God (Matt 11:20–24).

The horror of hell is so great, so much so that Jesus says, "If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life crippled than with two hands to go to hell, to the unquenchable fire" (Mark 9:43). For those who do not enter the narrow door of faith and repentance in Jesus (Luke 13:24), it is a place of weeping and gnashing teeth awaits them (Luke 13:28).

We can know from what Jesus said that hell is an eternal (Matthew 25:41), physical (Matthew 10:28), and horrifying (Mark 9:43) place where those who’ve sinned (Romans 3:23) are headed, and from which Jesus Christ came to rescue all who would believe in him (John 3:16-18).

So many people are heading in hell's direction with no thought of the consequences. We live in a society that pretty much lets you do your own thing if it makes you feel good, and that's Satan’s lie to keep people from knowing God and having eternal life. It's hard to understand why someone would want to go to hell, but I guess we were all in that situation once; when we thought life on this earth was meant to be lived to its fullest, and we had no time for God.

Only in heaven will you be able to talk with your loved ones and be with them forever.

Let’s talk about the reward for following and listening to God’s instructions.

Heaven

Heaven is a place of peace, love, community, and worship, where God is surrounded by a heavenly court and other heavenly beings. The Bible indicates we will know each other more fully than we do now. The Apostle Paul declared, "Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known" (1 Corinthians 13:12). It's true that our appearance will change because God will give us new bodies, similar to Jesus' resurrection body.

A place or condition of utmost happiness. Heaven will be an infinite world of new discoveries, and Jesus Christ will unfold them to you. Thomas Boston says: The divine perfections will be an unbounded field, in which the glorified shall walk eternally, seeing more and more of God; since they can never come to the end of the infinite.

Don’t be Unprepared

Be aware that there are so many questions that we cannot answer sometimes and is difficult to understand, but we must have faith and trust in the Lord that, in due time, he will reveal to us what we need to know.

Every day thousands of people will take their final breath and slip into eternity, either into heaven or into hell. The reality of death happens every day.

What happens the moment after someone dies? The moment after someone dies, their soul temporarily departs from their body to await the Resurrection.

Those who place their faith in Christ will be carried by angels, into the presence of the Lord. 2 Corinthians 5:8 (NKJV) We are confident, yes, well pleased rather be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.

Meanwhile, unbelievers await in Hades for the final Judgment. “And in hell, he lifts up his eyes, being in torment… And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.” ~ Luke 16:23a-24

Ecclesiastes 12:7 (NKJV) Then the dust will return to the earth as it was, And the spirit will return to God who gave it.

Although we grieve over the loss of our loved ones, we sorrow, but not as those who have no hope. “For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, the dead in Christ will be in paradise.

While the unbeliever’s body remains resting, who can fathom the torments he is experiencing?! His spirit screams! “Hell from beneath is moved for thee to meet thee at thy coming…” ~ Isaiah 14:9a.

Although he cries in his torment, his prayer offers no comfort whatsoever, for a great gulf is fixed where no one can pass to the other side. He is left in his misery and in his memories.

On the contrary, precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of God’s people. Who are escorted by the angels into the presence of the Lord, are now comforted. Their trials and suffering are passed. Although their presence will be deeply missed, they have hope of seeing their loved ones again.

Do you have the assurance that if you were to die today, you’d be in the presence of the Lord in heaven? Death, for a believer, is but a doorway that opens into eternal life. Those who fall asleep in Jesus will be reunited with their loved ones in heaven.

Those you’ve laid in the grave in tears, you shall meet them again with joy! Oh, to see their smile and feel their touch! Yet, if you don’t believe in the Lord, you’re going to hell. There is no pleasant way to say it. The Scripture says, in Romans.

Romans 3:23 (NKJV) for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Only when we realize the awfulness of our sin against God and feel its deep sorrow in our hearts can we turn from the sin we once loved and accept the Lord Jesus as our Savior.

Romans 10:9 (NKJV) says that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

If you would like to receive the gift of eternal life, you must believe in the Lord. You must repent, ask for your sin to be forgiven, and put your full trust in the Lord. There’s only one way to heaven: through Jesus. That’s God’s wonderful plan of salvation.

You can begin a personal relationship with Him by praying from your heart a prayer such as the following:

“Dear Heavenly Father, I know that I’m a sinner and I’ve been a sinner all of my life. Forgive me, Lord. I repent from my sins and receive Jesus as my Savior. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
