Failed help?

by Olawale Ogunsola
5/20/2023 / Christian Apologetics

In life, no man is created to be an island to live his life by himself. We need one another at one time or the other. God knows all things and He provides a helper at the right time.

In the Garden of Eden, studies revealed that Adam has been having a relationship with God for about one hundred and two years before He made a "help meet" (King James Version) available for Adam. That was the ripe time by God'stimetablee.

So, too long for a helper has been inculcated in every human being. No man can live his life alone. This desire made the Psalmist of Israel state in Psalms 121:1-2
"[1]I look up to the mountains—
does my help come from there?
[2]My help comes from the lord,
    who made heaven and earth!"

It is possible to look for help from those you think should be able to render it. They are the "mountains" available to you. There are always so many people you may turn to for help. You may think or know that they are better or greater than you do and should be able to be of help.

You are not wrong.

The writer of the Psalm quoted also "looks" at the mountains around him. However, he took a wise step; he asked himself a vital question before approaching anybody for help. What was it? He asked, Does my help come from there?".

Going on with your request for help from the "mountains" may bring disappointment. This should not be a cause of ending your life. You are only at a bend in the journey of your life and not the end of the road.

When help fails to come from the expected source, you should put your life in your hands and go to God.

A great leader in Israel had his portion of disappointment. He was a Judge of God's people in his days. This is contained in Judges 12:2-3
"[2]Jephthah replied, “I summoned you at the beginning of the dispute, but you refused to come! You failed to help us in our struggle against Ammon.
[3]So when I realized you weren’t coming, I risked my life and went to battle without you, and the lord gave me victory over the Ammonites. So why have you now come to fight me?”

Go for sure help.

Beloved, the step taken by Jephthah never fails. His expected help failed from man, he risked his life by going to the battlefield, in the name of the Lord, he won because God helped him.

Those who fail to help you today may be envious of you tomorrow when they see your victory. They may purpose to destroy you and your achievement but the Lord will disappoint them.

Let me reiterate here that you need the help of men. After looking around at those "possible helpers" (mountains), do not fail to ask God, "Who, among them is He prepared to meet your present need for help." He alone knows the heart of men and their strength or ability at each moment of life.

Therefore, when help fails to come from any source, do not be bitter about it, seek sure help from your God. He can point to you the fellow He wants to use for you at that moment. Do not be surprised that the source may fail to help but God has another alternative.

He will raise better helper(s). Cleave to God. Stay blessed and prepared for the imminent coming of the Lord.

Note: Kindly help to share this piece and the Lord will reward you bountifully in the name of Jesus Christ.
