Our Choppers

Recently, I learned of the death of one our old family dentists. He took his work and the care of his patients seriously.

I remember him calling to check on how I was doing after he extracted one of my wisdom teeth. I wasn’t just a name in his office files. He personally cared and called me the day after my office appointment.

We take our teeth for granted; that is until problems arise.

Not long ago one of my husband’s teeth fell out while eating a French fry!

We need our choppers; they grind our food.

“Remember also your Creator in the days of your youth, before the evil days come and the years draw near of which you will say, ‘I have no pleasure in them;' before the sun and the light and the moon and the stars are darkened and the clouds return after the rain, in the day when the keepers of the house tremble, and the strong men are bent, and the grinders cease because they are few, and those who look through the windows are dimmed (Ecclesiastes 12:1-3 ESV).”

Ecclesiastes writer, King Solomon was a wise man. He understood that ailments come with aging. One of the drawbacks is losing teeth. Is God keeping track?

The Lord has numbered the hairs in my head; I believe He knows how many teeth I have too.

“Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows (Luke 12:7 ESV).”
