Two Essential And Regular Questions Of Life.

by Olawale Ogunsola
6/22/2023 / Christian Apologetics

Two essential questions of all the time.
Many lives are lived wastefully. Many live their lives in a world full of fantasy. They welcome what this world gives them without caring to know what is given and how to utilize it profitably or optimally.

Not only that, so many people are very light and they present themselves as someone heavy. This is pure arrogance and it is destructive.
This was the case with Hagar, the maid ( or glorified slave) of Sarah, the wife of Abraham in the Holy Bible. She was given the uncommon privilege to become "the second wife" in the house of her mistress. This gave her a swollen head to be arrogant to her boss, Genesis chapter sixteen.

Her untoward behavior caused her to be driven out of the house where everything was available to her. Her encounter with an Angel of the Lord is filled with great lessons. One such lesson is here for discussion.
Genesis 16:8
"[8]The angel said to her, “Hagar, Sarai’s servant, where have you come from, and where are you going?” I’m running away from my mistress, Sarai,” she replied."

The Angel asked two questions but she could answer only one. She knew where she was coming from. She knew her reasons for coming from the place. She had sufficient information about what was available and where she was coming from. The territory was well known to her. That was not the problem.
The second question was more important than the first, I think. Where was she going? No particular destination indeed! No hope of getting somewhere. No provision of any type. She left a place of comfort to a place of no hope. She became a wanderer who went about aimlessly.

Is such life meaningful? Running away from somewhere to nowhere. It is a miserable way to live.

It is essential for every sound mind to always carry out a regular review of his life to answer these two questions: where am I coming from and why? Where am I crawling, walking, or running to? Doing any of these without a destination will, no doubt end in destruction.

Beloved reader, have you answered those questions faithfully? Do you ask those questions regularly? Can you answer them sincerely at any time? This is very important to be able to live your life gainfully for your benefit, and those of others. Stay blessed and prepared for the imminent coming of the Lord
