I AM A SPIRIT

by linzy bruno
7/21/2023 / Bible Studies

I am a spirit.

We are all spirits…..

We have a soul.

We live in a body.

Many people, even some who claim Christianity, see themselves as a body, with ‘feelings’ on the inside, but the Truth is that God has made man a tri-part being, just as He is the Godhead of the Trinity: Father, Son & Holy Spirit.

Because He made man in His Image:

Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness;“ (Genesis 1:26a)

Moreover, those professing Christians who abide in carnality are those who see themselves as a body and are most likely unaware that they are made in God’s Image and are actually a spirit and merely live in a body.

Jesus warns believers about this spiritual conundrum through the Parable of The Ten Virgins:

The Parable of the Wise and Foolish Virgins

25 Then the kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Now five of them were wise, and five were foolish. Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them, but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept.

“And at midnight a cry was heard: ‘Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet him!’ Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ But the wise answered, saying, ‘No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.’ 10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and

those who were ready went in with him to the wedding; and the door was shut.

11 “Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open to us!’ 12 But he answered and said, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you.’

13 “Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming. (Matthew 25:1-13)

Furthermore, Jesus ends this parable with a warning of the End of the Church Age, when the door will be ‘shut;’ referring to that symbolic door of the present age being permanently closed. People can still be saved, but with the glorious Age of Grace being passed away, salvation will not come as readily to those who seek God. It will be possible, but so much more challenging to come to God and abide with God through the most perilous time that mankind as ever seen or will ever see on the earth. Satan will be the one that man will readily follow and even worship in those days…..

Therefore, as we watch the set-up for the tribulation misleading society, the lesson of the Trinity has never been more poignant or urgent as it is today.

More Pertinent Verses:

1Corinthians 3:1-4--

And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual people but as to carnal, as to babes in Christ. I fed you with milk and not with solid food; for until now you were not able to receive it, and even now you are still not able; 3 for you are still carnal. For where there are envy, strife, and divisions among you, are you not carnal and behaving like mere men? For when one says, “I am of Paul,” and another, “I am of Apollos,” are you not carnal?”

Romans 8:5-7—

For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be”

Romans 12:2—

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”

1John 2:16--

“ For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world.”

In the below verse, Paul is warning his church to make sure they respect the freedom they are afforded in Christ, as they resist carnality—

For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.” (Galatians 5:13)

ALSO SEE Colossians 3:1-17

When people see themselves as a body, which could be the definition of carnality, they naturally follow that carnal line of thinking.

Knowing we are a spirit, we have soul and live in a body, because we are made in the Image of Christ, is Wisdom from God intended to instruct and direct our perception of ourselves, so that the Spirit of God may shine a bright light on how we see ourselves on the outside, as well as on the inside.
