P.O.W.E.R.* Girl V - Ch. 15 - Exciting Wedding Preparations

by Tonja Taylor
8/22/2023 / Short Stories

“Oh, Ms. Risa, you are going to be so gorgeous!” Pearl said, as she looked at the picture of the wedding dress that Risa was showing them.

“Dios es muy bueno!” Risa replied. “He gave me a Jewish deal on my dream dress, and it is a perfect fit—no alterations needed! He led me to a pair of gorgeous white satin heels that just fit, too!”

“That’s neat!” said Pearl, and did a high-five with Robin.

It’s so great to see Ms. Risa and Robin so happy! thought Pearl. I know Uncle Burt is very happy too! She thought of Lucas and Robert. I think they are glad about it too. We’ll all be one happy family, with Xi and Ms. Sophia!

“You guys are registered at many places, right?” asked Pearl’s mother. “And your cake lady is set to deliver right on time?”

Risa smiled. “Yes! This will be a three-layer cake, with a fountain in the middle of it, like I’ve dreamed about…Our love is a free-flowing fountain, and sweet!”

Robin smiled. “That is special,” she said softly. “I love you, Mom!”

Risa hugged her. “Te amo tambien! I love you, too!”

Then Risa turned to Pearl. “Princess, would you please play your harp at our wedding?”

Pearl blushed. “Play the harp?” she repeated, surprised. Oh wow, LORD! This is a little scary, but a lot exciting!

“Yes!” Risa said. “Burt and I were talking about it. We both had the same idea. You are anointed, Princess, and we would love to have you play while the guests are coming in, so the Spirit of God will flow throughout the sanctuary, even more.  Then, my friend Victoria will play the piano for the wedding song, and you can hurry to the back, to walk in front of me with Robin, as a flower girl. We will have real rose petals—red and pink and yellow, and they will smell so good!”

She stopped and looked at Pearl. “This is not too much to ask, is it? I know the LORD’s healing touch flows through you, Ariel! We would love for everyone to be healed—in their bodies, in their souls, in their marriages, and every other way! So, todos es possible con Dios!

She called me by my real name! thought Pearl. I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me, thought Pearl.  “Yes ma’am, Ms. Risa,” said Pearl. “I mean, no—I mean, I will!” She smiled and hugged her. “I was wondering what to get you anyway, and now I know!”

“Excelente!” said Risa. “Muchas gracias, Princess!” Risa hugged her. “This will be very special to Burt and me, and by the way, I think it’s fantastico that, in Hebrew, your name means, ‘altar, light, and lion of God’.”

“It does?” asked Pearl. She looked at her mother, who nodded. “I knew some of it, but, that’s exciting!” said Pearl, and smiled.

Robin nodded. “Amen! Your name is cool.” She smiled at Pearl.

“God can do great things with our obedience,” said Pearl’s mother. “You are anointed, Pearl, and you are an inspiration to us all. The LORD knows that people in church need to be healed, and when people get in His Presence, His power is available. Hallelujah!”

“Wow, Ms. Risa, thank you for asking me,” said Pearl. Es un placer! It’s a pleasure!” Thank You, LORD, this is fun! she thought.

“Mom, can we show them the pictures of the flowers you chose?” Robin asked.

“Oh, yes, and my bridesmaids will each have a bouquet too,” she said. “Charlotte, thank you so much for being a bridesmaid. I would have asked you to be my Matron of Honor, but my friend Isabella goes back with me about 20—something years.”

“Oh, Risa, dear, of course Isabella should have that place,” said Pearl’s mother. “I’m just thrilled that God is so good to have sent you all to us. Burt needs you to keep him in line!”

They all laughed.

“It is very kind of you to move your stuff already,” said Risa. “I think that will be a good project for us to do this weekend, so that at least most of the stuff will be in order when we return from our trip.”

“Good thinking. Pearl and Robert and I will be happy to help, and this can be their P.E. for the day.”

“Dios es bueno!” Risa said. She showed them many photos of roses, peonies, poppies, pansies, lilacs, and then, calla lilies. “I really like the meaning behind the calla lily,” she said. “They stand for purity, holiness, and faithfulness.”

“Wow, I didn’t know there were so many colors of those!” Pearl said.

“Yes,” said her mother, “Elohim is amazingly creative.”

“Yes!” said Risa. “So I’ve ordered some of every color! My bouquet will have all these flowers I showed you, with the rainbow of calla lilies, and each bridesmaids’ bouquet will have a lovely mix, too, just not as big. Then, we’ll have flower wristbands for Pearl and Robin, and lots of flowers in the church, and in the reception hall.  It will smell glorioso!”

“Wow, Mom, that’s a lot of flowers!”  said Robin.

“Yes, and Ms. Sophia insisted that she pay for them all—part of her wedding present to us,” Risa said.

“That wonderful lady is so very thoughtful, and such a giver!” Pearl’s mother said.

“Amen!” said Risa. “She also insisted on paying for most of our trip to Europe, and said she was going to make sure the caterer was well taken care of!”

Dios es bueno!” said Pearl.

Si, y Todopoderoso es muy generoso! Almighty God is very generous! Every time someone gives us something or does something good for us, it really comes from Him!”

“Amen!” said Pearl’s mother.

“Right!” said Pearl, then she said, “Europe—Is that where Princess Anne is? Are you going to Spain? What about Austria?”

“We are going to several places,” replied Risa. “I do think we are visiting England, although I bet Princess Anne would be too busy to see us commoners. I have distant relatives in Spain, although I’m not sure we’ll see them, but what is in Austria?”

“The Spanish Riding School, in Vienna, where the Lipizzaners are!” said Pearl.

Risa and Pearl’s mother laughed. “Oh, well, we saw the beautiful horses here, so we won’t be going there.” She looked at Pearl. “But put it on your Vision List, Princess. God has already fulfilled some things for you, right?”

Pearl’s mother smiled big, and Pearl said, “Yes! I believe He’ll do the rest of them, too.” She hugged Risa and Robin and said, “He must have written on my heart that I wanted you guys for part of my family,” she said. “Dios es bueno indeed!”
