What Goes Down Must Come Up!

by Tonja Taylor
9/01/2023 / Christian Living

19 I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you today that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing. Therefore choose life, so that you and your descendants may live, 20 and that you may love the  LORD your God, obey Him, and hold fast to Him. For He is your life, and He will prolong your life in the land that the LORD swore to give to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.”…--Deuteronomy 30:19-20, Berean Standard Bible

What goes down will come up, the LORD spoke to my spirit this morning, as I woke. He reversed the old saying of "What goes up will come down," which is true--but not as true as what He told me!

He helped me understand that, what we allow in our lives--what we read and watch and listen to and do; what we think about (which is all "meditation" is)--goes down into our inner selves, and shapes our lives.

I've heard a few ministers explain it like this: Decisions are doors. Choices change things. Every minute, we are making choices, decisions. The choices we make affect our lives, and in reality, become our lives!

When we make wrong choices, we may or may not be aware that they are wrong. However, if we continue to make wrong choices--to put thing that are against God down into our hearts and minds and bodies--then those wrong things will show up, one way or another, sooner or later!  Also, if we don't recognize and repent of them, and get rid of the roots, they can also carry on to our children, and create problems for them!

It all comes down to decisions. We need the Spirit of God, the Spirit of Truth, to lead us every day.  He is so patient and good, and faithful to guide us, but He is a Gentleman, and will never force His way upon us.

To make good decisions, we need to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit, and we need to know what the Bible, which is always right, says!  The Spirit of Truth will never lead us to do anything against God's Word!

God gave us His Word to help us make right choices, and to recognize and repent when we've made wrong ones. He loves us and only wants to help us have a life of Heaven on earth, as much as possible (John 10:10)!

So, to reiterate what the LORD Who is Wisdom states in His eternal, unchanging, infallible Word in Deuteronomy 30:  19 I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you today that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing. Therefore choose life, so that you and your descendants may live, 20 and that you may love the  LORD your God, obey Him, and hold fast to Him. For He is your life...

Yes, this is Old Testament. It was much harder to make the right decisions then, because the people on earth did not have the Holy Spirit given through the death and resurrection and ascension of LORD Jesus (although He would come upon them, like David and Moses and Joshua, etc.), and they did not have the whole Bible like we have now.

God is here to help us, and loves to help us! He intends for us to succeed, of course!

So we must guard our hearts, as the LORD commands us to. This is for us, not Him, and for our children (our "seed").

We can ask the LORD to "cleanse our conscience from dead works, to serve the Living God," and to help us "forget the former things and not dwell on the past, but to see the new things God is doing." Hallelujah!

The LORD helps us to desire Him and right ways of living. He also promises us that, "He who makes himself pure will be used for noble purposes." That promise really helped me years ago, because I knew that, even as a true Believer in Christ, I had so much oppression (wrong thinking and acting and believing), that I had a lot of cleaning up of my soul (mind, will, emotions) to be done, before He could work through me like He wanted.

I'm so glad the LORD sees the end from the beginning, cuase I would have given up on me, probably, a long time ago. But He believes in us! Hallelujah!

The positive side of "What goes down must come up" is that, when we sow (plant) the Word of God into our lives, and other good thinking and saying and believing, then good "trees" will bear fruit in our lives!

We need to ask the LORD to help us be aware of and replace the bad "trees" (thoughts and beliefs) with the good trees. He does say in His Word that every plant the Heavenly Father has not planted will be rooted up! Then, just like pulling weeds from a garden, we give the good trees much more room and nutrients to grow. We also "water" the good seeds and trees by reading and meditating and speaking the Word of God and Word-based truths over our lives every day!

When people think and act in opposition to the Word, they have been brain-washed by the enemy. So, we can reverse the curse, by "brain-washing" our minds with the Living Water of the Word! Hallelujah!  I've proved it to myself, and my life has greatly changed, and become much more of Heaven on earth through the years; all the more as I have drawn closer to the LORD and made His Word LORD of my life!

He will do the same for you, for He is no respecter of persons!

He is Love, and His perfect Love casts out fear, which is the usual operating system of humans since the fall in the Garden of Eden, when the enemy got control.

However, praise the LORD, King Jesus sacrificed Himself and rose again, so we could receive His power to get our Heavenly lives back, and become one with Him to rule and reign here and in eternity! Glory Hallelujah!

By the blood of Jesus, we are made the Righteousness of God, when we believe in and receive what He did for us. Hallelujah!

So, every day, every hour, every moment--we make choices. Let us ask the LORD to help us choose to plant down in our lives those good things we want to come up!
