In Due Season

by Olawale Ogunsola
9/21/2023 / Leadership

In the book of Ecclesiastes chapter three, starting from verse one until verse eight has a catalog of events that happen in their due times and seasons.

It is a known truth that each of the events listed there happens at the appointed time and season.

It is worthy of note that the list is not exhaustive in that all of the activities of man have ideal times and seasons.

Food and eating are central to human existence. Before God created mankind, He had in place what he would eat to sustain him. He never lacked anything.

In the Garden of Comfort, when the first couple were eating right, they had no problem. This eating right involved eating only the prescribed food, fruits, and herbs, no meat was included. A forbidden fruit was in the garden, they dared not to touch it, not to talk of eating it. All things went well with them until they crossed their boundaries by eating the forbidden fruit. Things fell out of place for them and their eating pattern changed! Thorns and Thistles were added to the list of their menu.

Before the fall, Adam had his duties and responsibilities. He could not eat when he had to work. By the wisdom given him by his Creator, he must have apportioned to each of his activities, working, eating, and resting.

Do you know what? Eating has a due season, most especially for leaders.
Human beings eat to live, they are not to live to eat. They eat so that they will have the strength to carry on the work God had assigned them to do.

Human beings, especially leaders should have their due season to eat and work. It will be to the detriment of the people of their land when leaders eat and drink recklessly in awkward times and seasons. Leaders should not eat to become gluttonous. They should not drink for drunkenness.

A land blessed with dutiful leaders who are not given to eating in the wrong seasons nor are given to drunkenness is blessed.

Are you a leader? Are your people blessed by your pattern of eating and drinking? Are you a son of God who is ready to be a weapon unto honor in the hands of the Lord? Let the Lord and His people rejoice to have you as their leader. Eat and drink in the right time and season; eat and drink also the right thing. Stay blessed and prepared for the imminent coming of the Lord.
