Anointed To Destroy

by Olawale Ogunsola

In the vineyard of God, there are various assignments. A unique assignment requires a unique anointing or power. That is why there is no need to compare one Ministry with another negatively. Each Ministry has its commission and vision which is given by the One Who owns the work.

God raises people to fulfill His purpose only. He knows who to choose and when to choose him. Will it not be foolhardy to become a referee of someone who is faithfully obeying the instructions of God on his assignment?

Will you believe that some Ministers are anointed or appointed to destroy? You can find this truth bitter to swallow. You may have heard, read, or know the Lord our God as a merciful One Who is full of Grace. Yes, He is! At the same time, He is a consuming fire!

In the Gospel of Jesus Christ as recorded by Apostle Luke, Jesus was raised for the falling and rising of different people, Luke 2:34. It is also on record that Jesus, the Son of God manifests to destroy the works of the devil, 1 John 3:8.

For this reason, it should not be strange to find certain men of God who will not hesitate to pull down any stronghold on the way to preach the Gospel. This can come in any form.

This was the portion of Jehu who had this recorded about him,
"[7]But God had decided that this visit would be Ahaziah’s downfall. While he was there, Ahaziah went out with Joram to meet Jehu grandson of Nimshi, whom the lord had appointed to destroy the dynasty of Ahab." 2 Chronicles 22:7-8. New Living Translation, NLT.

King James Version renders verse seven thus:
"And the destruction of Ahaziah was of God by coming to Joram: for when he came, he went out with Jehoram against Jehu the son of Nimshi, whom the LORD had anointed to cut off the house of Ahab."

He was anointed (appointed) to destroy the generation of Ahab.
The special assignment for Jehu is to cut off the generation of the wicked. He was appointed to put an end to every form of ungodliness. He was raised to cleanse the land of Israel. He was so anointed. Doing otherwise will amount to disobedience to the instructions of God. It can be said that he was raised to fulfill the prophecies against the house of King Ahab of Israel,
"21:21 Behold, I will bring evil upon thee, and will take away thy posterity, and will cut off from Ahab him that pisseth against the wall, and him that is shut up and left in Israel,
21:22 And will make thine house like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and like the house of Baasha the son of Ahijah, for the provocation wherewith thou hast provoked me to anger, and made Israel to sin." 1 Kings. King James Version, KJV.

While executing the will of God, others who provoked God to the point of being fit for destruction met their Waterloo in the hands of Jehu the servant of God.
[8]While Jehu was executing judgment against the family of Ahab, he happened to meet some of Judah’s officials and Ahaziah’s relatives who were traveling with Ahaziah. So Jehu killed them all." New Living Translation, NLT.

Will it not be a serious sin against the Lord if he fails to eliminate all those who have been appointed to die? He carried out the mind of God by wiping the dynasty of King Ahab and Judah officials who were fit to die.

Do you call him a vessel of wrath? You are very correct. In a rich man's house, there are vessels unto honor and vessels unto dishonor. How much more will God not have vessels of different sizes and uses? The Scriptures disclose, "[4]The lord has made everything for his purposes,
even the wicked for a day of disaster." Proverbs 16. NLT.
Jehu was raised to execute judgment on the recalcitrant people who walked and worked at cross-purposes with the Lord.
It is possible to compare Jehu's assignment with Samson's commission. The major difference is in the targeted group of people. Paul was an Apostle of the Gentiles and Peter was an Apostle of the circumcision, i.e. a man sent to the people of Israel, the people of God.

Samson was a weapon of vengeance in the hands of the Lord to destroy the Philistines who were consistently enemies of God in His people, (Judges 14-16. Jehu was to execute judgment on the wicked and disobedient people of God.

Warning for the anointed.,
Beware of abuse of anointing or power. Don't destroy the works (people) of God. Jehu separated the prophets and worshippers of Baal from other Prophets and worshippers of God, 2 Kings 10:18-28.
Don't be power drunk. Remember that you will give an account of how you have used the appointment given to you or anointing on you. Separate people of God from those who are strongholds (synagogues) of satan. Do not be careless about how you dispense your power.

Warning For The People.
Be very careful about anyone who is anointed by God to carry out His work. This will prevent you from becoming a victim of anointing to destroy. If you provoke him to anger, he may not spare you. Be warned! Not only that, the Lord warns,
[15]“Do not touch my chosen people,
and do not hurt my prophets.” Psalms 105:15.
The Lord fights for them on all fronts. Therefore, be careful of God's anointed ones. Stay blessed and prepared for the imminent coming of the Lord.
