Knock-Kneed

Dad was bowlegged; not that it mattered much but it gave him a story to tell.

As a boy, Dad drank some bad milk. Born in 1912, he grew up on a small Central New York State farm. The family’s milk might have come from their own cow. Yet; there’s also a strong possibility that Grandma and Grandpa may have bought unpasteurized milk from a nearby dairy farm. In either case; the milk was bad and Dad became gravely ill with food poisoning. He said that a pillow was placed between his knees to keep them from knocking together.

The Bible reveals another true story; there was a time that a fearful king’s knees knocked together.

“Suddenly the fingers of a human hand emerged and began writing opposite the lampstand on the plaster of the wall of the king’s palace, and the king saw the back of the hand that did the writing. Then the king’s face became pale and his thoughts alarmed him, and his hip joints loosened and his knees began knocking together (Daniel 5:5-6 NASB).”

King Belshazzar was shaking uncontrollably.

The writing could not be ignored; Daniel gave him the needed interpretation.

“Now this is the inscription that was written:

‘Men?", Men?", Tek?"l, Upharsin.’

This is the interpretation of the message: ‘Men?"’—God has numbered your kingdom and put an end to it. Tek?"l’—you have been weighed on the scales and found deficient. Per?"s’—your kingdom has been divided and given to the Medes and Persians (Daniel 5:25-28 NASB).”
