The Magnificent Jews

For you are a people holy to the Lord your God. The Lord your God has chosen you out of all the peoples on the face of the earth to be his people, his treasured possession.” Deuteronomy 7:6

The Israelites were and still are a holy people to God. He  chose them to be His treasured people and this applies now. For many centuries the Jews were the only chosen people on Earth.

Balaak, the Moabite king wanted Balaam to curse Israel while they were still roaming  the desert. Balaam enquired of God who said “Do not go with them. You must not put a curse on those people, because they are blessed.” Numbers 22:12

The Israelites were and are God’s blessed people. God warned Balaam not to curse Israel because they were blessed. To curse or harm Israel is the same as cursing or harming God. It would be unwise to curse or harm God’s people since it would incur some form of revenge or retribution from God and that statement is backed up in many verses in the Old Testament.

Again Balaak wanted Balaam to curse Israel, but because Balaam was a man of God and had integrity, he spoke only what God wanted him to say. He could not be bribed by any amount of money.  He said

“God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act?  Does he promise and not fulfill? I have received a command to bless; he has blessed, and I cannot change it. “No misfortune is seen in Jacob, no misery observed in Israel. The Lord their God is with them;  the shout of the King is among them. God brought them out of Egypt;  they have the strength of a wild ox. There is no divination against Jacob,  no evil omens against Israel. It will now be said of Jacob and of Israel, ‘See what God has done!’ The people rise like a lioness; they rouse themselves like a lion that does not rest till it devours its prey and drinks the blood of its victims.” Numbers 23:19-24

Israel was a blessed nation as they were entering the Promised Land of Canaan, and they still are a blessed people and nation. God protects Israel.

The Jews are among the most gracious, kind and godly people on Earth. They have traits given to them from their spiritual Father, the LORD God Almighty. They  are among the most upright and consistent people in the world and among the most truthful and honest. As a group they have the best ethics. They are among the brightest. Albert Einstein and Richard Feynman won Nobel Prizes in Physics and were descended from Jewish parents.

People who picked on them over the centuries have fallen or been found out.  Haman planned the downfall of Mordecai, Esther’s cousin. He then went further and plotted to execute all the Jews between India and Egypt. However his plan backfired and he was hanged instead of Mordecai. The edict to eradicate the Jews was overturned before any Jew was killed..

Israel does not fight its wars alone. God helps them. When the Egyptian soldiers followed them into the dry Red Sea bed a wall of water existed on their left and right. God waited till the last Israelite was safely on dry land on the other side of the Sea. Then He caused the waters to crash down on the Egyptian army who followed them killing many of them. With hindsight from history and the evidence, nations that take on Israel and the Jews will surely lose.

In the recent conflict between Israel, and Hamas terrorists, the world’s press have generally been against Israel which is an astonishing feat of propaganda. Even Western news channels can’t seem to report truthfully and honestly. Their reporting is mostly biased, consists of half-truths, and lacks integrity. News reports often omit vital sentences which describe the truth. Some have been too quick to judge and blame Israel and later when the evidence is produced, they have to concede they were wrong. This happened when Hamas blamed Israel for sending a rocket to a hospital car park in Gaza. Israel then produced evidence showing it was a Hamas rocket misfiring. A discerning audience will see it for what it is. News from Israel itself is likely to be truthful, honest and ethical.

Jews and Christians are alike

The Tanakh which is the Holy Book for the Jews is the Old Testament of the Christian Bible. The Old Testament is over seventy percent of the whole Bible, and in this sense Christians are over seventy percent Jewish.

The God and heavenly Father of the Jews is the same as the God and heavenly Father of the Christians. That makes us part of one family. God the Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit appear in the Old Testament. They also appear in the New Testament.

Jesus was a Jew and He opened a new way to God which is mainly taken up by the Gentiles. He began by instructing mainly the Jews in Israel, but His intention all along was to send His message out to all the world. Though Christianity is mainly for the Gentiles, some Jews become Messianic Jews. Many early disciples of Jesus were Messianic Jews.

Jerusalem and Israel feature in end times prophecies. God still has His hand on the nation of Israel, and His people who are descended from Jacob who was renamed Israel. God gave the land of Israel to the twelve tribes of Israel once they crossed the Jordan from the east after forty years in the desert. It was the Promised land to them. Like paradise. A place where they could flourish and be at peace and settle.

Jerusalem is the capital of Israel and also the most central city in the most pivotal country in the world. Two temples of God stood in Jerusalem and were later destroyed. One was in Solomon’s time, and the other stood while Jesus was active in His public ministry in Israel. For the Jews it is the most important city. For Christians it is where Jesus died on a cross, was buried and came back to life in three days. It is significant to Christians because the event that gives us forgiveness for all our sins, and eternal life took place with that event with Jesus. It is also the place where the Holy Spirit era began  for the followers of Jesus. Pentecost. Jerusalem is the most notable city on Earth for the Judaic and Christian faiths.

We Christians need to show solidarity with the Jews.
