TRUSTING IN CIRCUMSTANCE

Common sense tells us that to a varying extent we do have to evaluate and respond to our circumstances in order to make sound, sensible decisions. However, believers in Christ Jesus have been afforded the privilege of trusting in Him far over and above the ‘happenings’ of life. In fact, when believers trust in circumstance above all else, they are interfering in God’s Plan, and are actually keeping themselves from all of what God has for them.

There are times when circumstance will rule due to the many needs we have, just by abiding in this earthly life. And inasmuch as this is the case, this fact can override our godly senses and lead us to the bad habit of rushing to the conclusion that what happens next is all we need to consider. This practice can severely blur the line of how much attention ought to be given to circumstance.

Moreover, trusting in circumstance can severely restrict positive outcomes, because only God has the power to open doors of opportunity that no one can open or shut:

“The key of the house of David I will lay on his shoulder; So he shall open, and no one shall shut; And he shall shut, and no one shall open.” (Isaiah 22:22)

Furthermore, when we choose to put our trust in God above all else, we are deliberately keeping our focus on His deliverance, which is wise in all cases. (And what we focus on, we magnify!)

Moreover, it is the evidence of true wisdom to do so. For when we learn to trust God above all; we remain far more readily in His Will. And through staying in His Will, our outcomes will shine a light on the fact that He has turned our bad into good, or is in the process of doing so, as we read in Romans 8:28:

And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”

Moreover, when we learn to lean on Him, we are subsequently building our relationship with Him; giving way to spiritual growth, and becoming more Christlike.

When it appears the road ahead will prove difficult, and a great deal of issues will demand our attention, through it all we are blessed; we have His watchful eye of protection and steering!

And for a poignant sidenote, what we put most of our energy into is what we are trusting in for the answer, therefore, things quickly become more problematic when putting our trust in our ever changing, completely unreliable circumstance. This habit only makes the problem bigger and more overwhelming. And even in the most serious of situations, when the answers seem so far off, by continuing to trust Him, He is faithful and will deliver us out of all of our troubles, whether right away, or in time. And God’s Word also illustrates that it is wise to wait on Him:

“But those who wait on the LORD Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.”  (Isaiah 40:31)

Verses on Deliverance:

“I will love You, Oh LORD, my strength. The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised; So shall I be saved from my enemies.” (Psalm 18:1-3)

“Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; ‘For YAH, the LORD, is my strength and song; He also has become my salvation.’ “ (Isaiah 12:2-3)

“But I am poor and needy; Yet the LORD thinks upon me. You are my helper and my deliverer; Do no delay, O my God.” (Psalm 40:17)

“who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began,” (2Timothy 1:9)
