Tell the Pressure to Leave!

by Tonja Taylor
12/20/2023 / Christian Living

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. -  Isaiah 9:6, KJV

Pressure is not from God! He leads us in right paths, and He is the ultimate Gentleman. Hallelujah! So when pressure comes, it's not the LORD, and we can realize and rebuke it, in the name of Jesus!

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your  heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. - John 14:27, KJV

If you are feeling pressure of any sort, it is a form of fear, and not from God. His all-knowing Spirit of Truth, the Holy Spirit, warns us about things, and/or causes our peace to be absent, or to leave, if something is not of Him, or if it's time to change. However, God did not give us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind (2 Tim. 1:7). Hallelujah!

Years ago, I started feeling pressure as the holidays kicked off. I was walking down the hall, and that feeling came. I started feeling confused and stifled, and a little hopeless and overwhelmed. I just stopped and took authority over it, and it left!

Pressure tries to come back in different forms. Taking care of my elderly, very disabled mom (and living in the same house with her) has brought many more pressures--and Christmas season doesn't stop.  I've had to be more agressive against pressure this year.

You and I can do this!  Some things that have worked for me that may work for you are to just burst out singing--and, hey! 'Tis the season! God loves singing, and even commands us to sing--for our own good, obviously, and to bless the hearers. It is thought by some Hebrew scholars that the LORD sang the world into existence, so go for it!

Speaking of singing, it's a delight and comfort to know that Daddy God, our Abba Father (when we have received the LORD Jesus Christ as our Savior and LORD, by repenting of our sins and believing that the blood He shed on the cross over 2,000 years ago is holy, and the only thing powerful enough to truly wash them away forever (and not just cover them)!) is a doting Daddy, and sings over us!

The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.Zephaniah 3:17

So, while there is always chocolate and other carbs, caffeine, and doing things like watching movies (Please be selective, because you do not want to open the door to your life to something that's against God, no matter how stressed you may feel!), shopping, etc., asking the LORD to help you refocus on the positive (ASK ME HOW I KNOW!!!), even every hour (every moment? I've had lots of practice with that lately. Let me just say that, by the Grace of God, I'm making progress in saying less, expecting less from my dear mom, who means well, but...), including working out (Who has time, right? I've missed my workouts the past few months, but some is better than none. Even opening the window or door just to get a breath of fresh air is good, and standing/sitting in the sunshine a few minutes if possible is even better! Lately, it's been the sunshine coming through the window, but hey, light is light!).

The best thing, of course, is going to the Word (reading it, speaking it, listening to good preaching and teaching); worship (Bible-based, of course), prayer, and Godly fellowship with other true Believers. Run to your Bible-believing church, if possible, or at least put online Bible church on and play it wherever you can! This is another place cell phones come in extremely handy!

So, you can defeat the pressure. I even say, at times, "I don't have pressure. I have peace, and prosperity. The pressure turns back on the devil! Prince of Peace, please minister to me."  And Jesus does!

I also sometimes ask me to hold me close to His bosom, and to hide me in the Secret Place with Him.

When I speak the Word out loud, for instance, Psalm 25:12-14, it always brings me comfort.

One thing we have to remember (and we can ask the LORD to help us remember to ask Him! He is so good!) is that we are NOT performing for Him! Jesus performed FOR us, and, through His blood that covers us (when we truly believe our need for Him as Savior and LORD and receive Him!), we are already totally accepted by Father God! We are totally pleasing to Him, and He delights in us, and loves us as much as He loves Jesus (I'm preaching to myself here! Most of us have not been taught that, or we're just now learning it, and it may take a few times (or hundreds) for it to really soak in...so keep on choosing to believe it, before you feel it! Practice saying and allowing yourself to believe that, "Daddy God loves me as much as He loves Jesus! I already please my Father, and He loves me no matter what (Like we imperfect parents love our kiddos no matter what,, even when they mess up terribly.)."

When we focus on the positive, the negative cannot compete. We have to keep on washing the mud of negativity from our minds with the Living Water of the Word of God, and other truly positive sayings (which, by the way, are really based on the Word of God--no matter who takes credit for them! GOD SAID IT FIRST!)

Where there is darkness, there is no light. But where the Light is, the darkness cannot be! Hallelujah!

Yes, in this world we will have trouble, But be of good cheer (Tonja and you all!), for Christ has overcome the world, and deprived it of its power to harm us! Hallelujah!

These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. - John 16:33, KJV

And on that note, dear Mom is in the bed, and that's where I'm going. The dirty dishes can wait. They will either be there in the morning and will be conquered then, or we'll be in Heaven! :)

Remember, "No pressure" really DOES apply to you!
