His Way is Easy!

by Tonja Taylor

As a parent, have you ever made things hard for your child(ren), on purpose? That is not our desire, although if they are being rebellious and/or have a really bad attitude, we can make things more difficult than they have to be--to teach them a lesson, in the hopes that they will learn and not do or be those wrong things any more.

God is the perfect Parent, and it is written that He disciplines those He loves. However, the plans God (the perfect Parent) has for us are to prosper us and not to harm us. His original plan was the Garden of Eden, where there was work, but pleasant and prosperous work, not hard, grinding, soul-draining work.

It is written that His yoke is easy and His burden is light (Matt. 11:30).

Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel, “I am the LORD your God, who teaches you to profit, Who leads you in the way you should go. “If only you had paid attention  to My commandments! Then your well-being would have been like a river, And your righteousness like the waves of the sea. - Isaiah 48:17-18, NASB95

It is written that we (can, if we choose to cooperate with the wonderful Plan of God for us) dwell at liberty and at ease, when we are disciples taught by the LORD and obedient to His will (Isaiah 54:13).

What man is he that feareth the LORD? him shall he teach in the way that he shall choose. His soul shall dwell at ease; and his seed shall inherit the earth. The secret of the LORD is with them that fear him; and he will shew them his covenant. - Psalm 25:12-14, KJV

There is an enemy that tries to hinder us in the way of God for our lives. However, our God is the good, good God, Who leads us in right paths always--to bless us and others! He is the best Father, and makes the way easy for us, as much as He can, with our cooperation.

If that's not enough to convince us, how about this: God made His Son, Jesus Christ, to suffer the unimaginably cruel death on the cross of Calvary, where He spilled every drop of His pure blood to pay the penalty for all our sins, and make the way for us to be reconciled to God and live forever in Heaven with Him--so we wouldn't have to!

How great is our God!

He loves us, and He wants the way to be as easy as possible for us, while allowing challenges that help us to grow and mature in Him.

Being a parent and a former teacher in public schools, I know that I just want my dear children to listen, trust me to obey, and do the right thing, so I can help them have the best life. It's only when they keep disobeying and especially doing that with an unthankful and/or prideful attitude that I am forced against my will to make things difficult for them.

Samuel said,

“Does the LORD have as much delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices As in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than a sacrifice, And to pay attention is better  the fat of rams. - I Sam. 15:22, NASB20

How much more perfect is God in His goodness to us? His wisdom no one can fathom, and only He knows the heart.

Praise Him, His mercy precedes His judgment, and He changes not, thus we are not consumed!

I know this, and have proven it in my own life: the more we cooperate with Him, the more we yield to Him, the more blessed we are; the "easier" we have things in life.

It is a process to learn to revere and obey the LORD. God is pleased at how you've already obeyed Him, and He wants to help you hear and obey even more, so He can bless you more.

His plans for us are peace and prosperity!

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. And I will be found of you, saith the LORD: and I will turn away your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places whither I have driven you, saith the LORD; and I will bring you again into the place whence I caused you to be carried away captive. - Jeremiah 29:11-14, KJV

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. - Ephesians 2:10, KJV

He will help you. Just ask Him, then yield to His Spirit! He is a sweet, good, patient Daddy God (He is your Father once you have repented of your sins and asked the LORD to forgive and cleanse you, and to come into your life and be your Savior and LORD!), Who is here to help you.

Yes, He's just that good! He gives you the desire to obey, teaches you how, helps you do it, and blesses you for it--with ease and peace that is not of this world. While every moment won't be without challenge, He'll help you keep your mind on Him, and remember that everything on earth (except His Spirit and His Word) is temporary!

Hallelujah to our King! King Jesus is returning very soon (Rev. 22:20)!
