The Most Precious Treasure of All: The Truth!

⁴ Guard [with greatest care] and keep unchanged, the treasure [that precious truth] which has been entrusted to you [that is, the good news about salvation through personal faith in Christ Jesus], through [the help of] the Holy Spirit who dwells in us. - I Timothy 1:14, AMP

Over 15 years ago, I was worshipping at church, and I had a vision: The LORD Jesus Christ—the Way, the Truth, and the Life—rode into the church on a magnificent white horse. I could not see His face. He guided the horse onto the stage and turned to face the congregation. He was dressed in a black war vest, but it had holes in it. Through the holes was shining glorious light, and the holes spelled out a word: TRUTH.

When we know the truth about something, it can change everything. 

Truth is both freedom and power. 

Knowing the truth can save our lives--physically, mentally, emotionally, financially, socially, materially, spiritually. 

When we know the real truth, we have a settled confidence. We know that we know that we know about that thing, and no one can convince us otherwise. 

The wisdom of God, found in His Word and breathed by His Spirit, is the Truth. 

However, there are many who are deceived about the real truth, by believing a lie.

"What is 'truth'?" ask people who have not found the Truth of Jesus Christ, the only Way to God. 

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. - John 14:6, KJV

How many of us have been deeply hurt when we discovered that a trusted friend or authority figure lied to us?

I know I have.

But there is One Who will never lie: The LORD Jesus Christ! He is the ultimate Authority; the God of all power in Heaven and earth, to Whom every knee will bow and to Whom every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is LORD. Halellujah!

have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name,so that at the name of Jesus EVERY KNEE WILL BOW, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, - Philippians 2:5-10, NASB95

Jesus Christ, the only true Savior of the world, is the Truth, the true Treasure that we guard.

He says that we can know the Truth (Himself) and His Truth will make us free!

So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, “If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.” - John 8:31-32, NASB95

The greatest treasure you can ever have is the truth.

The Truth is Jesus Christ.

His Truth--His Love Letter to you; how He sacrificed Himself on the cross of Calvary over 2,000 years ago to shed His pure blood to pay for the sins of us all, then rose again after three days and is alive today to help you have an eternal relationship with Him--is found in His matchless, unchanging, inerrant Word, the Holy Bible. 

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. - Romans 5:8, NASB95

Christ died and rose again for this very purpose—to be Lord both of the living and of the dead. - Romans 14:9, NASB95

No man knows the full truth, save the Man Jesus Christ (Who is all man and all God, but Who humbled Himself to live as a Man on the earth, to inspire us to do what He did and more!)

Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. - Phil. 2:8, NASB95

Where is your treasure? 

All on earth will rust or otherwise decay. It will pass away. 

What do you value as life-giving truth?

Jesus said that His Word is truth, and will last forever!

Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. - John 17:17,KJV
