The Rodgers: A Tribute To Christian Lives Well Lived.

by Rik Charbonneaux
3/16/2024 / Christian Living

"...in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." Proverbs 3:6 NIV

Roy Rogers and Dale Evans were famous Western stars and Entertainers, but they never let their film and music sucess take priority over their faith iin Christ and love for God's Word.

Like most of us, they had their share of failures and tragedies, but they never lost their faith, nor asked God "Why?" They just saw all things as being a part of God's plan. On one ocasion, defending their faith cost them a small fortune, but they stayed on the side of the Lord and suffered the loss to His Glory, as follows:

While hosting an hour long variety show for ABC at the 1962 Seattle Worlds Fair, Dale Evans and Roy Rodgers closed the show with the hymn "How Great Thou Art".

They were previously told that the word "Christ" would be dropped out so a not to offend the non-Christians visitors in the audience. Roy and Dale went ahead and included the word "Christ" in the closing hymn and their contract was immediately terminated.

When Dale was asked why they chose to do this instead of honoring the terms of a very lucrative contract, Dale replied : "You either mean business with the Lord or you don't!*

When both Dale and Roy individually turned to Christ, they were both was living in poverty. From that point on, things just fell into place over the next 30-years to put her and Roy Rodgerstogether into the national spotlight.

Along the way, they were both more concerned about honoring God and Christ every day throughout their lives, than they were about the money or the Hollywood, TV or radio fame of being the "King of the Cowboys and the Queen of the West".

The Rodgers gave God and Christ their full and proper devotion each and every day. and they were a fine example and testiment to us all of being Christian lives well lived.
