Without Your Title

Too many people have gotten caught up in titles. Titles such as: CEO, MD, Vice President, Supervisor, Manager, or Assistant. For some people, theyve worked really hard to obtain their title. Other people know a friend of a friend, family, or backstabbed. The question I ponder, regardless of how a title is obtained, does the title make the man or woman? Realistically, it shouldnt! In reality and todays world, it does! Sadly, a person can transform into someone totally different because of his or her newly obtained title.

Its true, as Christians we must obey the authority over us. This authority is located all over; in our homes (husbands authority over wives), at church (pastors authority over the congregation), work (managers and supervisors authority over employees). Over time, Ive learned where my lively hood comes from. No matter what you have been led to believe, it does not from people, things, or even my job. It comes from God! We can place great importance on these things. We can loose focus on the true foundation of our lively hood. We should never do anything that would go against God just because our authority says do it. We shouldnt allow anyone to compromise our standards.

In Gods word, He promised to make our names great according to Gen. 12:2 And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you (with abundant increase of favors) and make your name famous and distinguished, and you will be a blessing (dispensing good to others). It states nothing about titles. What would you be without your title? The final answer, you would be simply a man or woman with the same great abilities. I admire those whose title has not made them. Those whose title that can be removed and be the same great man or woman without appendages, prefixes, or suffixes. I truly admire a person whose title is what it is-a title. Theyve somehow learned Im great without it! The wisdom of being humble and not haughty theyve learned. We see and hear daily about people loosing their license to practice. We hear about mangers, supervisors, and CEOs getting fired at work or on the news all the time. The question is, who are they now? Again, the final answer, you would be simply a man or woman with the same great abilities. Get my point?

In todays working world, we face people in authority that lack the ability to understand people.

What has the working world authority done?

* Authority that has stepped on.
* Authority that has overworked and underpaid.
* Authority that has pushed around and belittled.
* Authority that has verbally, mentally, and emotionally destroyed others.
*Authority that has overlooked quality because of consumer need for quantity.
* Authority that has forgotten its small beginnings.
* Authority that has no loyalty.

Why?
* Authority that must maintain.
* Authority that must fit in.
* Authority that must not appear weak.
* Authority that must follow in the footsteps.
* Authority that must threaten, use bully tactics to unjustly move ahead.

Ive heard horror stories, people on edge, not knowing if theyll have a job at the end of the day. Suddenly, he or she is training their replacement without knowing. Believe me I have my own horror stories too! Fact, many of us are under authority that lack people skills. Hiding behind titles and dictating corporate policies.

My first retail job was held at Costco Wholesale in Texas. When I first started working at this job, I thought it was beneath me. Why? Because I thought I was better than my position held. Well, Ive worked in law as a paralegal, as office manager, and as a Secretary at companies that are well known. When I realized that it was the F.O.G. (favor of God), my attitude changed. My realization, no matter where God places me, it will never be beneath me! So when God closes this door, I will move on and true I will no longer be the title I was given, but Im great without it! When you know youre supposed to be there, you know you cant be moved by man until your season is up.

I get so angry when I see people abuse their authority-just because. What would you be without your title? Do you see me as the little man? where you ever the little man? How soon we forget! Ive learned, my livelihood doesnt come from people, or even my job, but God himself. Raise your head my brothers and sisters live righteously. Why? FRET NOT yourself because of evildoers, neither be envious against those who work unrighteousness (that which is not upright or in right standing with God). For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb. Ps. 37:1-2 My burden was like Hab.1:2-4 THE BURDEN or oracle (the thing to be lifted up) which Habakkuk the prophet saw. O Lord, how long shall I cry for help and You will not hear? Or cry out to You of violence and You will not save? Why do you show me iniquity and wrong, and Yourself look upon or cause me to see perverseness and trouble? For destruction and violence are before me; and there is strife, and contention arises. Therefore the law is slacked and justice and a righteous sentence never go forth, for the (hostility of the) wicked surrounds the (uncompromisingly) righteous; therefore justice goes forth perverted. Yet, Gods answer is in verse 5 Look around (you, Habakkuk, replied the Lord) among the nations and see! And be astonished! Astounded! For I am putting into effect a work in your days (such) that you would not believe it if it were told you.
