Pictou harbour is a
bedlam of dory boats, slatted
lobster cages and
smelly herring-bait, early
morning mackinaws
shrouded in dew
wives are anxious for
husbands, children eager
for dads, fishermen
and Nova Scotia
seagulls
sharing a feast of attention.
Outside the melee two
youngsters jig silver lures,
their mackerel-tease
an adventure in summer heat.
