Break Camp and Advance

by Randall Wadley
12/28/2006 / Christian Living

In our Christian walk with the Lord, we all have our Red sea crossings, with every step forward theirs manifestation of God for everyones eyes to see. Our countenance is bright, as we shine for His glory. He holds back the troubled waters in our lives and allows us safe passage on dry ground. As He delivers us to the other side, at His command, the water resumes it natural place and washes the enemys lies from our minds.

Just as the Israelites, after the crossing, we are faced with a vast dry wasteland. The times are lean and the provisions are meager, we wonder around like lost sheep. Even though God leads us day and night, our spiritual eyes have been waxed over. The enemy jumps at this weakness and attacks with lies and deceptions. When we buy into his lies, selfishness flares up. And the grumbling starts, our self esteem plummets and we become idle. Even though we are wondering aimlessly, we are no longer moving forward. We are camped out spiritually and cant seem to break camp!

The Lord our God said to us at Horeb, you have stayed long enough at this mountain. Break camp and advance into the hill country of the Amorites. (Deut. 1:6,7)

We are commanded to break camp and advance! We have stayed long enough at this mountain (spiritual level). Climbing hills are very strenuous, but to the climber its very rewarding once at the summit. Going to our next spiritual level isnt going to be easy either, but once there, it will be rewarding to everyone we meet. The closer we walk with God, the more the deceiver is going to come against us. But the key to victory is faith.

He replied, because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain move from here to there and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you. (Matt. 17:20)

Satan always tries to make worldly mountains out of spiritual mole hills! He always portrays our troubles to be bigger than life. But with the precious gift of discernment from the Holy Spirit, the father of lies is exposed. These spiritual mole hills are the stairways to heaven, speed bumps on the kings highway!

Break Camp and Advance!

See, I have given you this land. Go in and take possession of the land that the Lord swore he would give to your fathers Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and their descendents after them. (Deut. 1:8)

Brethren we need to advance and take possession of the land (heaven) and all the promises of His Word! We are Abrahams seed! We are blood bought heirs through Christ Jesus.

Be careful to follow every command I am giving you today, so that you may live and increase and may enter and possess the land that the Lord promised on oath to your forefathers. (Deut. 8:1)

Our inheritance is conditional, we will not receive it through unrighteousness and we will not receive our increase through disobedience. We must be souled out to Him! We must follow His commands whole heartily, we must seek His face! We need to break camp and advance with pure hearts. No matter what your mountain is take authority over it! The authority we have as blood bought citizens of the kingdom of heaven and move that mountain!

Then as the Lord our God commanded us, we set out from Horeb and went toward the hill country of the Amorites through all that vast and dreadful desert that you have seen, and so we reached Kadesh Barnea. (Deut. 1:19)

Brethren, its not going to be a walk in the park every time we advance to our next spiritual level. Satan is going to make you think its a vast and dreadful desert. But with the gift of discernment we can see these spiritual speed bumps in the Kings highway. Satan is going to present them as road blocks, but their only speed bumps, we need to slow down and proceed with caution, not stop completely!

Advance! Advance! Advance!

Jesus you know where we are and where were going, I ask that you increase our faith and give us courage to get up from our easy chairs and walk away from our comfort zones and advance as heirs into Your next spiritual level. We ask for the gift of discernment to see through the enemies plans to thwart our progress on the Kings highway. Bless you Lord, well see you soon. Amen
