We walked to the airport
To the florescent lighted square
Of steel and concrete,
And the gate beyond
Where I wanted to say
"Wait for me,
Forget all except us!"
But I turned
And ran the other way.
Like magnets that repel,
We were both forced
In opposite directions
By some power
Which was not ours to control
But I doubt if magnets
Hate airports
As much as we do.
