And you asked me,
As tears streamed down my face
"Is there anything I can do to help?"
I screamed a silent answer
That you couldn't hear
Your voice reached out a hand
That only my soul
Could grasp it held tight
To the hand which was "doing to help"
Just by asking
It mattered, you cared
The storm broke,
Freeing a torrent of tortured thoughts,
You listened. You held me in your mind
While it rained, poured, then slowed to a drizzle
It became fresh, cool and light
"Is there anything I can do to help?"
You were beautiful
And I smiled an invisible smile
That you couldn't see.
