This dream has a start as all dreams do,
It will meet it's end in years too few.
It started it's life so clear and new
Through the years to death it flew.
Their friendship strong in high school started,
Then came college and they were parted.
Separations were long and vacations flew,
Each dated others but only a few.
For reacquaintence and fun,
The dream had lived
Through college year one.
Back to school
Again in fall;
And so it went
Four years in all.
Slowly something happened,
Something had been a change,
That "they" seemed strange.
Since high school
It had been "they"
How could it just
Those precious years
That went so fast,
Who couldn't those precious years
Last and last?
But dreams are like that
In every way,
They come and then
They fly away.
Leaving the dreamers
Empty and alone,
As those from whom
This dream has flown.
