The Poetry Contest

by Genuine Suede
10/10/2009 / Entertainment

There's a poetry contest I really want to win,
but I've nothing to say--I don't know where I could begin.
The topic of love is all but worn out . . .
So, what else does a poet write about?
I'm not a gifted writer.
My talent's very thin.
But the money! Ohhhhh, the money!
I do so want to win!
My heart pines for rhymes I can turn into riches,
Mad rhymes,
Glad rhymes,
Or ones that keep you in stitches !
"Romeo? Where for art thou, Romeo!"
Oh, what the heck . . .
I so want to see my name
On that lovely winner's cheque !
