Gary Adams was the son of wealthy parents. Gary's father was a successful business man and his mother a housewife. Both parents were caring, especially his mother who made certain he was well provided for. Though they were Christians, God and church was limited to Sunday service which the family attended together, except the father who was a noticeable absenteebusy with business!
Gary was a good singer and a popular student -- good entertainer. Away from school, Gary was busy singing at friends' parties etc. It was at a party he met Sharon, the beautiful daughter of wealthy parents and with time they fell in love. As a result of this, Gary's studies took second place, resulting in him failing at the final high school exam.
On Gary's father being informed about this, he invited Gary to join the family business. In the meantime his love affair blossomed making it hard for him not to see Sharon, thus preventing him from participating in business trips with his father. Robert Adams decided to talk seriously with his son, "Gary, the time has come for you to decide between your future with the family business and your love affair. I would give you a couple of days to make a decision".
This resulted in Gary going away with Sharon for few days. Both parents were angry with their children's decision, especially Gary's father about his uninformed absence from work and Sharon's parents on her disappearance for few days with a boy.
On their parents' decision, Gary married Sharon at a simple wedding ceremony after which they lived with Sharon's parents. Robert Adams Jr. was born on a peaceful night, just seven days before the birthday of Jesus Christ.
Things were good except that Garry's family was dependant on Sharon's parents; Sharon had three brothers, the elder two involved in the father's business and one younger.
Tom and Alan, the two elder brothers rebuked their parents and cast aspersions on Gary for living free. Both the brothers demanded that the family be sent back to Gary's parents.
This resulted in Sharon's father arranging for them to move to London and Gary to work with a friend. The money provided by Sharon's father helped in the initial expenses, whilst Gary's visits to the office of Malcolm Turner did not bring desired results. Instead, he was drawn into an offer made by a shady character whom he met regularly at a pub.
Having prior knowledge of Garry's large bank balance he persuaded him to invest in his business. The man was an ambitious, small time drug dealer who enticed Gary with visions of huge profits, within weeks. The gullible Gary parted with almost 75% of the money he had.
A few days after the deal, his partner went missing. As continuous phone calls went unanswered Gary decided to visit his house.
The taxi driver cautioned Gary," Sir, it is a long way to this place. Are you willing to pay 80 Pounds for just one way."? Gary said "Yes". On arriving at his destination, he walked-up to the door and was about to press the door bell when the police arrived.
An officer walked up to him said, "Mr. Adams please let the taxi go as you have to come with us."
Gary was confused. He raised his voice and asked "What wrong have I done to go to the police station"?
Policeman answered, "Sir, if you resist we will take you under arrest"
At the police station he was allowed to talk to his wife but Gary did not do so. He was then informed the reason for his arrest. The Officer in charge said "Mr. Adams, Scotland Yard has been following your accomplice for some time and we have all his records. You joined him in smuggling drugs by investing 2500 Pounds and that is why you are here."
The following morning he was taken to meet his partner who was already in prison.
Thereafter, Gary called his wife who was petrified on hearing his story. She blamed him for lying, wasting her father's money and deserting them.
Straight away Sharon called her father who promised to come and meanwhile requested her to move to his friend's house.
Though Gary's father spent much money on litigation, it was hopeless. Gary was sentenced to twenty years in prison. Sharon with baby returned to America where she got her divorce from Gary. Two years later, Sharon re-married.
About two years after being in prison Garry started reading the bible and praying. He devoted much time asking God to forgive him and also prayed in groups with others. The prison authorities too arranged Sunday mass and encouraged priests to come for regular confessions, mass and communion.
One evening Gary had an encounter with the Holy Spirit and this was how he described it.
"It was a normal evening and I was seated on a chair, I saw someone standing and it was the Lord who was there."
He said, "Take a piece of paper and write the words with care and I will give you all the wisdom to write the word with care."
The words were those in Psalm 91.
Gary answered,"Yes my Lord I heard your word"
Few months later, Gary was pardoned under her Majesty's command and was released from prison.
Although he was sentenced for twenty years, he served less than four years in prison.
When Gary returned home to his parents he got fully involved in the Lord's service with the Risen Lord Community. He sings and he works for the Lord whilst traveling organizing prayer meetings and healing services.
