YOU ARE NOT FORGOTTEN
by John Seun
8/12/2011 / Salvation
I have discovered through the help of the Holy Spirit that many in the world today believe that there is nothing for them again, because of one thing or the other they have done in the past; they believe that their sins can never be forgiven.
Your case is not closed; you are too precious to be ignored by God. Nobody gets God's attention better than the sinners. It is for sin that He had to let go of His begotten son so that you might be saved. The devil will always want you to know that God has no place for you, probably because you had killed, stolen, cheated or any other evil act but the truth is you are most precious to God.
In Africa there is a saying that 'no matter how bad your child is, you will never throw him/her to a lion to feast on'. Remember Matt 7:11 says:
As bad as you are, you know how to give good things to your children. How much more, then, will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask him!
All I know is no one is even qualify to be called a child of God by righteousness but by grace we are all God's children that includes the lame, the weak, the blind, etc. Friends, we are all sinners but God's Word (Christ Jesus- John 1:1) came for the sake of sinners not for righteous people and if you think you are righteous then you don't need Christ (Romans 3:10, Isaiah 64:6).
Christ did not come to condemn you; He came to save you, to give you a glorious life. John 3:17-18
For God did not send his Son into the world to be its judge, but to be its savior. Those who believe in the Son are not judged; but those who do not believe have already been judged, because they have not believed in God's only Son.
The Word of God is called the Good News because it brings restoration to sinners and God has no intention to give up on any sinner but we are the ones that had given up on God. Luke 15:1-10 gives us an obvious instance of how desperate God is toward sinners.
One day when many tax collectors and other outcasts came to listen to Jesus, the Pharisees and the teachers of the Law started grumbling, This man welcomes outcasts and even eats with them! So Jesus told them this parable:
Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them what do you do? You leave the other ninety-nine sheep in the pasture and go looking for the one that got lost until you find it. When you find it, you are so happy that you put it on your shoulders and carry it back home. Then you call your friends and neighbors together and say to them,
I am so happy I found my lost sheep. Let us celebrate! In the same way, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine respectable people who do not need to repent.
Or suppose a woman who has ten silver coins loses one of them what does she do? She lights a lamp, sweeps her house, and looks carefully everywhere until she finds it. When she finds it, she calls her friends and neighbors together, and says to them,
I am so happy I found the coin I lost. Let us celebrate! In the same way, I tell you, the angels of God rejoice over one sinner who repents.
You are that lost sheep and coin. God's arms are always open to welcome us home but we men think we are not good enough for God. He that created you knows your infirmity and He has accepted you as you are but you keep pulling yourself away. The Prodigal son understood this and he returned home to his father and shockingly got his father's blessing even more than his brother that had been with the father (Luke 15:11-32). Matt 11:28-30
Come to me, all of you who are tired from carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke and put it on you, and learn from me, because I am gentle and humble in spirit; and you will find rest. For the yoke I will give you is easy, and the load I will put on you is light
The next time the devil tries to tell you there is nothing left for you just remind him of these scriptures.
After all said and done, remember when you ask for forgiveness always strive through the Holy Spirit to live a sin free life. Romans 12: 2; Do not conform yourselves to the standards of this world, but let God transform you inwardly by a complete change of your mind. Then you will be able to know the will of God what is good and is pleasing to him and is perfect.
I remember a story of a young boy who lived with a guardian. Each time the boy makes mistake he would tell his master "I am sorry" and the man will freely forgive him but one night the master slept and the boy was playing with matches until the fire engulfed the building, knowing that he had made a terrible mistake, the boy quickly ran out of the house to escaped being punished by his master. While running he remembered that if he had asked his master for forgiveness the man will freely forgive him so he turned back to the house to say 'master I am sorry' but his master had already been burnt to death before he got back home.
Continuing in sin is very dangerous and deadly for no one knows when death beacons.
Acknowledge that you are a sinner now and ask God to take you back and forgive you all your sins so you can enjoy your own feast like the prodigal son.
You are not forgotten, God knows your name!
You are blessed in the name of Christ Jesus!
