Who Are You On Christmas Day?
by Olawale Ogunsola
1/01/2015 / Worship
Celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ comes up every December 25 each year. Whether He was born on this date or not does not, and cannot, change the truth Jesus was born and the purpose of His coming into the world is unassailable; it is redemption.
No gainsaying the fact that Christ's birth has changed the history of the whole world to B.C. (Before Christ) and A.D. (After Death of Christ). This has come to stay.
Jesus came to complete His assignments which He did successfully, although He is still alive today working through His ministers.
The question now is "Who are you at Christmas?"
At the time of His birth, there were two prominent groups of people, namely, the king Herod group and the wise men's group. Each group played different roles.
Which group do you belong to?
The wind of 2014, Christmas is still blowing; another one will take place next December. During this year's celebration, who were you and do you always want to be at each Christmas?
A king or a wise man?
Let us briefly outline what differentiate the two.
A king at Christmas, represented by king Herod, is always occupied with "royalty"; sitting comfortably in the palace, eating, drinking and making merry to display opulence. He puts on royal robes and all things that reveals comfort. He sees the season as one when to meet only friends and family members to "rejoice". To him, it is time to display wealth or prove that he has arrived.
A king at Christmas cannot see or search history book to know every truth written about a city or person, that is to be informed about what had happened and what is to happen. He commissions other people to do this.
A king at Christmas cannot see the reason for the happy season of celebration.
A king is troubled and angry at the reason for celebration. He is uncomfortable if educated on this. A king at Christmas is an enemy of the good news of the hope of salvation. He feels uncomfortable to hear about Jesus Christ as a king.
At Christmas, a king deceives to extract information with the intention to do evil. He is crafty and a destroyer of the innocent.
On the other hand, a wise man, represented by the wise men from the east, is ever occupied with what is new, special and profitable to mankind. He is interested in advancement. He is sensitive to what is happening and what is about to happen, near or far.
Do you know that someone who searches what is far will do a thorough self search to know himself inside out to know where to mend his ways. As soon as he knows what to do, he does it. He is aware of the fact that self.examination leads to self-correction.
A wise man at Christmas identifies with what is good and positive.
At Christmas, a wise man has good news and he is happy to share it. He is not selfish.
A wise man has first hand divine information at his disposal because he is spiritually connected. He is current with spiritual happenings. He follows light to guide him.
When he sees what God has done, he rejoices, and not troubled. At Christmas, a wise man displays an exceeding joy and shares same those around him.
He does everything to seek the Lord and when he had seen Him, he worships Him.
Christmas is a time when a wise man knows Christ in person. He is not interested in celebrating the day but Jesus Christ that he knows.
He expresses joy of salvation which lingers forever.
At Christmas, a wise man shares what he has in Christ others. He joyfully gives gits to everyone he could touch.
He is spiritually sensitive. He heeds divine warnings. He is obedient to spiritual instructions.
Who are you at Christmas? Are you a king or a wise man?
Please, be a wise man! It is only a wise man that aware that Jesus Christ is coming soon to take His saints home to be with Him.
Stay bkessed and rapturable.
