A Letter to the Religious

Do you know what "grace" is? Grace is unmerited favor. Grace is being forgiven when you don't deserve it. God gives to us all, grace. If He didn't none of us would make it.

I don't know about you but I have done many dumb things in my life and made some really poor decisions. Walking with the Lord is a great learning experience. One of the greatest lessons is learning that we are not in control and that He alone is God. We learn that our life, if we truly have surrendered and made Jesus Lord, is not about us and our selfish desires, but it is only about finding and doing what the Holy Spirit leads us to do. So many get saved and become religious. Scripture says that it is by grace that we are saved, not by our works. Works won't save you. What you do in your flesh does not please God, even being religious. They say well the Word says this or that. They try to dictate to others what they should do or not do. Who made them the Holy Spirit? Did God die and they had to take over? So much is done in the name of religion it is a wonder that anyone gets saved. If it were not for the Holy Spirit power drawing people to Jesus and seemingly blocking out all the rubbish spoken, probably most would not get saved. Who in their right mind would want to be like what is portrayed from the so called Christian community. People need to be given love and grace as this is what all men need, They don't need to be told of all the wrong things they are doing and don't have the ability in themselves to change. God does the changing of peoples heart. Man could not keep the law. Jesus alone enables mankind to change. Who would want what people are dishing out? So many try to play god over others. These people have a form of godliness but deny the power thereof. Many say that they are a Christian. Yet, saying you are a Christian does not make you one. I have often told the Lord that I am sorry to have to be a part of what Christianity has become.

God is love. I don't care how many scriptures that you can quote if you have no love in you there is a problem. You are religious. A real Christian has a personal relationship with Jesus through the Holy Spirit. They have learned that His presence, His voice, His ways, are what being a true Christian is. They have learned that when God leads there is results in His time of choosing. They have learned that without the Holy Spirit to empower and lead them that all of their efforts are in vain.

We need to get back to a personal relationship with Jesus and the Holy Spirit, not just a relationship with the Word. We need the Holy Spirit power to work on us, and through us in order to be a people that others would want to know and be like. The Bible says that they who are in the flesh cannot please God. Do you realize that you can be in the flesh when you are walking the Word? Unless what you do is led by the Holy Spirit, you are in rebellion and in the flesh. The disciples were our example. They had walked and talked with Jesus personally but after He went to Heaven, they were obedient and waited in the upper room until they were endued with power before they started ministries. They knew that they had to have the Holy Spirit power working through them. Jesus told them to wait till they got this. This is the major difference between being religious and have a relationship with the Lord. The Holy Spirit gives glory to God not us.

I realize that there are many that may not like me saying what I have said. Yet, it is the truth. If we are ever going to make a difference in this world then we better learn to accept the power of the Holy Spirit and let Him work through us. He gives God's love and grace. He is able to bring people to Jesus so that they can be delivered and healed. He can save and change people. Once again, we have a choice as to whom we will allow to be God in our lives, Will it be us or Him? The choice is ours.
