Wanting - Absolutely Not

by Sonja Mattison
5/08/2018 / Prayers

To want is very common in any society, and very common in American society. When I think about “wanting” I think about God and how blessed mankind is to have the opportunity to commune with the Almighty in solace and comfort in the act of “wanting.” Then I ask, “Why do we want?” Next, I conclude that everything we need we have, so why shall we want?

Psalms 23:11 New King James Version (NKJV)

1The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

Our lives are full of goodness. God gave us more than what we deserved – life, so contentment should rest in us. Every breath that we breathe is filled with an opportunity to be grateful, and to cherish each day without taking the day for granted. Not taking the day (s) for granted gives us reason to forfeit complaining even in our own adversities, which are really hidden blessings. Always, we should stay uplifted in good spirits despite our problems of the past and present, and our unknown future outcomes.

Jeremiah 29:11 New International Version (NIV)

11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

God is the main vessel to depend on through the event of any storm. Hence, life for us is in essence a beauty everyday without question within the Almighty's domineering power upon the earth. Never shall we want in any form of desperation or with worry, doubt or fear because we already have.

Matthew 6:25 New International Version (NIV)

25Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life[e]?

Lastly, if our worry fear, and doubt are diminished then so should our complaining – about everything. In regards to wanting we shall never have to worry. For God has graced us with too many treasures. Have gratitude instead. Do not want.
