Are Your Prayers Powerful?

by Tonja Taylor
3/17/2020 / Prayers

If you want to make sure your prayers are powerful, do these:

1. You must receive the LORD Jesus Christ into your heart. Once you believe by faith that He died on the cross for your sins and rose again after three days and now lives forever, and ask Him to forgive you and be your Savior and LORD, He will live inside your heart and help you to live the victorious Christian life. You won’t have to struggle through life by yourself anymore (John 3:15-17; Romans 10:13; Proverbs 18:24; John 15:15)!

Best of all, God the Father will hear your prayers from that moment on (unless you for some reason are scorning Him and have decided to stop believing) because once you receive Jesus into your heart, God will no longer be angry with your sin. Jesus will have paid the price, and God will see you from that moment on as a new person--the brother or sister of Jesus!

And He will love you just as much!

So, to even get God to hear your prayers, you must become close friends with His Son, Jesus! (The only prayer God will hear from someone who doesn’t know His Son, is the prayer of “LORD Jesus, please forgive my sins and come into my heart to be my Savior and LORD!” (Romans 3:23; Romans 6:23; Romans 10:13))

2. Go through the Bible and find prayers that are already written out, such as (in no particular order): Neh. 1:5-11; Micah 7:18-20; Ephesians 3:14-23; Colossians 1:9-12; Jeremiah 33:3; Hosea 10:12; Zechariah 10:12; Isaiah 45:11 and 43:26; Malachi 3:10-12; I Thessalonians 3:11, 12.

These are just a few. You can also find many books with various prayers written out, all based on Scripture.

Pray these out loud and you’ll soon connect more than ever with your loving Father!

3. Pray God’s Word back to Him from singular verses. There is great power in praying the Word of God aloud, back to Him! He loves it, and besides touching His heart when you do so, you are getting more of His Word into you, thus strengthening your faith!

You can take most verses of the Bible and make them personal. It helps me to use an easy-to-understand version of the Bible, such as the Amplified Classic, or The Passion Translation, althogh God of course understands every version, and every language on earth. His Spirit will breathe life and understanding for you into whatever version you read and truly seek Him in. He is so very good!

Ask the LORD to show you which verses to pray, and make them personal to you--for the Bible is your guidebook, written to you, from your Father God!

Find those that touch on the things you want to pray about. For instance, if you want to pray about your job or business finances, pray verses such as Proverbs 11:18b: “Thank You, LORD, my good work gets solid pay.”

You could also use, about your work: “Let the loveliness of the LORD our God rest on us, affirming the work that we do. Oh yes. Affirm the work that we do!” Psalm 90:17

When I bless my daughter by speaking the Word over her daily, I have often used Psalm 20, parts of verses 4 and 5: “May He give you the desire of your heart, and make all your plans succeed. May the LORD grant all your requests!”

It is easy and delightful to search the Word of God for treasures of Scriptures that you can quickly turn into personal prayers for you and your loved ones!

Just open the Bible or go to your favorite book, and the LORD will show you many more verses than you have time to pray. But start, and you’ll soon be adding verses, memorizing them, and finding that you hear the sweet Holy Spirit speaking them to you just when you need them most.

Enjoy, and remember--your prayers don't have to be long. Sometimes at various hard times in my life, I have literally just said, "Help me, Jesus!" out loud, and He does! For when we receive Jesus as our Savior and LORD and best Friend, He also becomes our Big Brother forever. Jehovah becomes our Father, and so of course every good brother and father hear and answer the cry of their family member when they call for help!

Hallelujah!

Ask the LORD to help you also and He will help you memorize more verses that you can arrange into your own personal prayers!
