Our Tax Dollars At Work

² And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God. ³ Blessed shalt thou be in the city, and blessed shalt thou be in the field. -- Deuteronomy 28:2-3

It doesn't seem to matter when

Or where or why I travel;

It seems I'm destined always

To run into sticky gravel.

 

And I'm caught in a bottleneck

Of anger and frustration--

It takes four times as long

To reach my destination.

 

I guess that it would be too hard

For the State to concede

That reconstruction of our roads

Does nothing but impede our speed.

 

It looks as if these barriers

And flashers and detours

Have become a sure investment

For my tax dollars and yours!
