The camera rises high into the sky as it captures a rotating, aerial shot of a white church peaked by tall spires. What the camera fails to capture, though, is the terrible secret that hides between the walls of its elegant structure. The screen fades to black, then materialises again, this time showing a close-up shot of a woman’s face. The woman speaks of her past marriage. Sadly, the marriage she describes falls far short of what many women dream of as children.

The website Polygamy: What Love is This? ministers to men, women, and children who were raised in the Fundamental Mormon church (different to mainstream Mormonism), which, to this day, practices plural marriage. Start by watching the free documentary Lifting the Veil of Polygamy, then click ‘The Program’ tab to watch over 500 past episodes, dating back as far as 2008.
