Apostle James wise counsel stands sure and is of great value. What is this?
"So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow
to speak, slow to wrath ; for the wrath of man does not produce the
Righteousness of God." James 1:19. NKJV.

The phrase, "be swift to hear" offers great gains. Wherever you are, if you are very attentive to words flying around you, access to information will be yours. You will also learn lessons from both young and old. There may, many times, be need to sift the information you have gathered to separate the essentials from non-essentials. Sometimes, you may choose a point for further considerations. You may also choose to bring sense out of nonsense. Yet, you will have great access to information.

Make use of the ones need.

It was such 'swift to hear' that brought up an essential discussion on a young boy of about ten who said, "I will be happy if I can get about $25m." When he made the assertion, everyone present was amazed. Many of those present looked at his face only to shake their heads in pity.

Why?

Let us consider about two reasons for this action:
One, this young boy is in the elementary school and is under the care of his parents. No source of income yet, how then will he be able to generate such huge sum of money? Does he have the ability to raise such fund? How will he be able to come across the money?

Not only this, assuming that in one way or another, he comes across this money, does he have the ability to manage such fund? On what will be expend it? He may be helped by his parents or guardians to manage it for his benefits and that of his generation.

Do you know that so many adults are like this young boy? How? They crave what they do not have the ability to handle very well. They are only interested in it many times because someone has it or is in control of such a thing.

So many people are envious of occupiers of certain positions and are looking for ways to pull them down. Their envy had grown into deep hatred to the extent that they go ahead to conspire to sniff life out of such personality. After achieving their evil desire, a stranger may be appointed to occupy the vacant position. Why? All because those who think they will be given the opportunity to occupy it are seen as lacking the ability.

In the parable of the talents in the book of Matthew 25:14-30, a man gave talents to his servants, one was given five and another two and another one talent. No one complained among the servants; the man with five talents gained another five making it ten talents. So it was with the man with two talents, he also gained another two talents, making it four.
The man with one talent buried it with no result. Was the man who distributed talents partial? The answer is "No!" What then was the yardstick used to distribute the talents?. Matthew 25:15(c) records,
"to each according to his own ability,"

No only this, on his return, he took one talent from the unprofitable servant who buried his talent. What did he do with it? He gave the man who had ten talents with him. Why? The master was sure that the servant had the ability to manage and multiply the talents.

This was the same with James and John who desired to be on either side of Jesus Christ in His kingdom. Christ's question was, " Are you able to drink the cup that I am about to drink, and be baptised with the baptism that I am baptised with?" Matthew 20:22.
They both answered, "We are able" v23.

What do you want to become? What position do you desire to occupy? What are the goals you have set for yourself to attain? You need to create sufficient time to examine yourself and sincerely answer the question, "Do I have ability to achieve and manage it well?" if you deceive others, it will be fool hardy of you to deceive yourself. Assess yourself to know what you have the ability to do and what you do not have the ability to do.

If by now what you desire to achieve is far beyond your ability, no problem, be patient with yourself and create time to acquire the right ability to achieve your desire. You must be ripe for what you desire to acquire. Failure to do this will cause you to mess things up including yourself if not your whole life.

Know your ability and chase what you are able to ; otherwise, wait to acquire the ability before you take any step forward.

Stay blessed and prepared for the imminent coming of the Lord.
