Destructive Minority

by Olawale Ogunsola
5/05/2021 / Leadership

On every issue, most especially in politics, the slogan is "Majority will have them" way" while the minority will have their "say". The majority must not go to sleep after having their way. They must watch what effect the minority's "say" may have on their "way". A continuous strong "say" may obstruct the way of the majority.

An old woman's common saying is relevant here. She used to say repeatedly,
Two hundred friends are not enough and one enemy is too much! " This translates that one enemy may amount to anything evil. He may turn to become a poison in the volumes of palatable meals. It will destroy lives!
The Story of majority of obedient Jews and a disobedient man of war, Achan, is relevant here.

What happened?

The Jews have been instructed, "And you, by all means abstain from the accursed things lest you become accursed when you take of the accursed things, and make the camp of Isreal a curse, and trouble it." Joshua 7:18. New King James Version.
Achan, a single disobedient soldier, a minority, troubled the whole congregation by disobedience. He finally declared, I have sinned against the Lord God of Israel, and this is what I have done. When I saw among the spoils a beautiful Baby Loman garment, two hundred shekels of silver, and a wedge of gold weighing fifty shekels, I coveted them, and took them. And here they are hidden in the earth in the midst of my tent... Jos 7:20-21. A little city called A conquered Isreal because of the sin of a minority, Achan. This brought weeping and gnashing of teeth to majority. Then the words of Ecclessiastes 9:18 capture it all,
"Widom is better than weapons of war ;
But one sinner destroys much good." New King James Version
Can you see power of minority to destroy here? The Israelites did not overcome All until the majority under the leadership of Joshua settled the minority who was destructive. As it was, so it is and so shall it be forever certain minority have the means to destroy, do not ignore them. Do the right thing with wisdom to ensure that they do not trouble the majority and those associated with them you need wisdom to do this successfully. The truth remains that do not neglect the minority, think of how can handle them with divine wisdom to attain peace at all costs.
Stay blessed and prepared for the imminent coming of the Lord Jesus.
