Titanic 2020

 A new ship.  A clean ship. Freedom is her name.

Framed by the Constitution, seaworthy and game,

She struts out from the harbor for the salty ocean swell

With no idea the rip tide is dragging towards hell.

 She’s proud and tall.  Her passengers play confidence and joy.

At many ports they seal their style. It’s friendship they employ.

She wins friends and invitations float in from afar.

This ship is sporting on an ever-rising star.

The last port of the season is coming into view.

Freedom ‘s cargo of great hopes is well and truly due.

But out there on the high seas a danger lurks below.

Suddenly it broaches, with just the tip on show:

Presenting as fresh white yet flailing underneath –

A mountain of destruction, her cutting edge a knife

That can fiercely undermine and shred the good ship’s sturdy frame.

Down she goes with all on board.  Yes, Freedom was her name.

Silence.

Mourning,

Tears and then some more.

Her cargo is lost with vision of her shore.

Silence.

Violence.

Constitution torn.

  

But miracles becoming at the break of dawn.

From the depths a new ship “Firefly” shall rise

From the prayers of all her sailors not accepting such demise.

A new ship, a great ship, her sailors loyal and true.

Might even melt an iceberg and silence its lying crew.

The world waits to discover what this new season brings.

Why, it returns to us our Captain with the Freedom song he sings!

Grandmother, teacher, bushlover, horse-lover, gardener, poet , stirrer and passionate person, especially about Jesus.
