Marital Missmatch 1

by Olawale Ogunsola
9/03/2022 / Marriage

There is no gainsaying in the fact that marriage is a Divine Arrangement for mankind to live a happy life and multiply. However, this good intentions of God the Creator of all things has been distorted by His appointed managers of His work as they have done to other good plans. Mankind is used to abuse of the authority given him by his God.

On an online platform recently, a member asked the Pastor in charge an interesting question. What was it? He asked, "Why do GOOD PEOPLE MARRY BAD PEOPLE as their spouses?" The servant of God answered the question as much as the available time could permit.

Do you know that if are in the shoes of such people you have hope? Or if you have someone near you who is a "victim", tell him or her to be hopeful. You are not the first person to be so involved in marital Mismatch.

Let us consider a case study from the Holy Bible:
"Now there was a man in Main whose business was in Carmel, and the man was very rich. He had three thousand sheep and a thousand goats. And he was shearing his sheep in Carmel.
The name of the man was Nabal, and the name of his wife Abigail. And she was a woman of good understanding and beautiful appearance, but the man was harsh and evil in his doings. He was of the house of Caleb." 1 Samuel 25:2-3(NKJV).

Please, read the verses over and over again. Is there any mismatch or not?

A careful analysis of the couple's description reveals that they are completely opposite each other. The man was one of the dangerous men a woman could ever marry. Note what the Scriptures states about him, "the man was harsh and evil in his doings". It means you cannot trace any good thing to him. One of his servants further describes him with an hitching quality thus, "For he is such a scoundrel that one cannot speak to him." verse 17(b).
His wife further discloses about him when she was on a rescue mission of her family, "Please, let my Lord (David) regard this scoundrel Nabal. For as his name is, so is he: Naba is his name, and folly is with him!. "verse 25.

In his interaction with him, David saw Nabal thus, "Surely in vain I have protected all that this fellow (Nabal) has in the wilderness, so that nothing was missed of all that belongs to him. He had repaid me evil for good." verse 21.
That is a total description of a husband for you!

Do you know what? He was married to an understanding and beautiful wife. As bad or even evil as Nabal was, no record of any rift between the two of them. This woman understands when to talk to her husband and when to keep quiet (1 Samuel chapter 25:36).
Do you know that at the end of the day, the Lord intervened in the matter of Abigail and she finally became free because the wickedness of Nabal came upon him for the Lord struck him that he died. The story of Abigail changed for the better for the rest of her life.

Are you married to a "wrong" fellow? There is still a hope IF YOU KNOW THE LORD, LOVE AND SERVE HIM. Pray for the power of the Lord to uphold you. Ask the Lord to grant you all the knowledge, wisdom and understanding to deal with your spouse. At the end of the day, you will have reasons to glorify the name of the Lord.

Stay blessed and prepared for the imminent coming of the Lord.
Note
All Scriptures quoted are from New King James Version (NKJV) of the Holy Bible.
