A Child is Born

Traditional churches often include hand bells as an integral part of their music ministry. Their bells come in a variety of sizes.

Group members are clad in robes and don white gloves.

A large assortment of bells has been placed before them on a table.

Each member must patiently wait for their turn to ring their bell or bells.

Notes ring loud and clear. Sometimes bell ringers back up a choir and lyics of Christmas carols bring a birth announcement. 

A child is born!

“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6 KJV).”

Not only do bells come in a variety of sizes; at Christmastime, bell ringers do too.

Small children, teens and adults will be volunteering as Salvation Army bell ringers in front of stores. They give of their time; shoppers will give contributions of paper money or coins. The sound of pocket change dropped into kettles has a nice ring to it.

“Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver (2 Corinthians 9:7 KJV).”
