Looking For The Good

“Lord, open my eyes to see
The good in others around;
And in my mouth, let not
Harsh criticism be found.

Help me to look for the good,
And not the failures, or sin;
Let me see You in others,
And Your sweet beauty within.

Let my mouth speak forth blessing;
Words born of love, from Your heart.
Let my words raise up many,
And not tear down, or apart.

Oh Father, teach me to see,
Beauty, and goodness in all.
Even those cast down, or low,
Who so often seem to fall.

Open my heart, oh Father,
To look for the good, and right;
That I may oft’ encourage
My brothers, to onward fight.”
