LOVE AND RETRIBUTION
King Jehoshaphat gave his throne to his son Jehoram who began plotting evil within his first hour!
Jehoram "immediately" killed his six brothers and some princes that he may have thought could threaten his power!
As a result, one day a letter from Elijah the prophet of God arrived for King Jehoram!
God's wrath was about to fall upon Jehoram for murder, and for causing Judah and Jerusalem to commit spiritual "WHOREDOM"!
Elijah said thus sayeth God: Because of what you have done I will smite thy people, thy children, thy wives and all thy goods with a great plague!
I will smite you with a disease that will cause your bowels to fall out and you will "DIE"!
Note: and all of this came to pass before the king reached old age!
There are many portions of scripture that prove that God will smite people with disease to punish them or to turn them from Sin!
To turn them to Jesus and to that old rugged Cross so that they might become Born Again!
Sometimes even the devout Christian suffers sickness and disease going through "FIREY TRIALS" meant to test their faith in God!
The Bible tells us not to think these trials to be "STRANGE OR ODD"! 1 Peter 4:12
Psalm 107:17 says "Fools because of their transgressions and because of their iniquities are afflicted!
Sometimes God uses sickness to turn us to that old RUGGED CROSS that we might be "Born Again" through divine conviction!
I have heard ministers stand in the pulpit and preach that God puts disease on no one, that Satan is the author of all that!
That couldn't be farther from the truth and there are many scriptures that "PROVE" what I'm saying to be a fact!
If we provoke God's wrath, many times he will punish us for our evil by afflicting us with sickness and disease!
Sometimes because he loves us, he afflicts us with suffering to get us to repent and to turn to him in prayer, down on our knees!
Jesus indicated in John 5:14 that sin can bring additional sickness and suffering if one continues on a sinning spree!
He said to a man he healed in John 5:14: Go and "SIN NO MORE" lest a "WORSE" thing come unto thee!
If you doubt what I'm telling you, read Deuteronomy 28!
Leviticus 26, Exodus 15:26, 2nd Chronicles 21 and 26, Psalm 119:71, and simply believe God's Word for goodness sake!

Retribution:
punishment inflicted on someone as vengeance for a wrong or criminal act.
Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:but rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; 1 Peter 4:12-13
affliction: something that causes pain or suffering
Iniquity is a violation of the right or duty that mankind is under obligation to do. An iniquity can also be a wicked act and immoral conduct or practice. These are harmful or offensive to society and, especially to God. In the bible, the terms, sin, and iniquity, are often used interchangeably.
