A Mother's influence

by Olawale Ogunsola
9/29/2023 / Parenting

The position of a mother in a home cannot be overstressed. It is a great commission for every woman who wants to stand straight before the Lord.

Although this takes wisdom according to Proverbs chapter fourteen in verse one. Wisdom is worthy to be acquired because of its great value.

It is sad to note that so many mothers nowadays are negligent in their God-given duties and responsibilities.

Mothers are supposed to be destiny molders of their husbands by support in words and actions, they are to do the same to their sons and daughters.
They channel courses to follow for their children.

Many times, this dictates the extent such children would go in life. It also dictates the longevity of each child because the way a child walks has direct effects on what he will become and how long he will live.

Not only this, certain mothers are wicked and bring up their children in their wicked ways.

A mother has a very great influence on children in every sphere of their lives. This was the case with Athaliah and her son who became a king in the land of Jerusalem.

"22:2 Forty and two years was Ahaziah when he began to reign, and he reigned one year in Jersalealem. His mother's name also was Athaliah the daughter of Omri.
22:3 He also walked in the ways of the house of Ahab: *for his mother was his counselor
22:4 Wherefore he did evil in the sight of the LORD like the house of Ahab: for they were his counselor to his destruction." 2 Chronicles.

A mother, as a counselor, influences a leader's way of life and his end as was the case with Athaliah and King Ahaziah.

The mother counseled and influenced her son in a position of authority to his destruction.

The question now arises: how is your influence and counsel on your child? What will it make out of his life? What end will it bring to you and him and how soon? Do not work to destroy your child's life and indirectly your own. Take time to ask yourself each time you want to give counsel to each of your children, "What will be the outcome of my suggestion or counsel?"

May the Lord guide you to influence your children for the glory of God and your peace of mind and success of your children in Jesus' name. Stay blessed and prepared for the imminent coming of the Lord.
